OLD SKOOL

Alex Albrecht returns with Aurora - a pristine followup to his Blue Caves transmission via Scissor and Thread in 2018. 

The Melbourne based composer and sound designer Albrecht has leans into his predilection for woozy, affecting melodies intertwined with skittering drums and snaking grooves, and Aurora brings that to the fore with six tracks of shimmering beauty. 

Spring Orchard opens the record, effortlessly merging deeply buried keys with washes of dreamlike synths, and dubby effects. 
Wildflower Walk is a melancholic affair, underpinned with a restless groove. 
The title track Aurora treads a similar path, but with a more driving approach, while an interplay between piano, guitar, and synths drenched in reverb offer a warm, enveloping atmosphere. 


Aurora is also shared here as a remix by Roza Terenzi, who entirely reworks the track with her signature club ready grooves . 

Kennett River exhibits a kind of smudged, cinematic hip hop feel, while closing track Morning Piazza showcases Albrecht’s sense of drama and pacing, producing a sublime ending to this deeply affecting collection.

In this stunning 4-tracker, we are treated to Melbourne’s Eddie Hale’s knack for sophisticated dance music. From the percolating cycles of the title track, that feels like a sonic interpretation of a wild outback chase, through “Standing Still”’s marvellous FM glistens and the broken-down pathways into oniric beauty that “Third Eye” takes us to.

After all is said and done, we are treated to the analog bliss of Turning Point, an electro charmer that feels like coming up for air from the depths of an icy lake.

Chris Liebing remakes Emmanuel Top’s iconic ‘Turkish Bazar’. A new version of the 1994 acid rave hit lands on Liebing’s CLR on 20th December 2024.

Chris Liebing’s long-awaited remake of Emmanuel Top’s 1994 classic ‘Turkish Bazar’ arrives on CLR this December. Initially released via the Le Petit Prince label, ‘Turkish Bazar’ is an evergreen club hit, now painstakingly rebuilt by Techno powerhouse Chris Liebing, with each musical element reforged to create an essential new version.

Liebing’s version of ‘Turkish Bazar’ features the instantly recognisable spoken word vocal of the original, while he ups its unmistakable 303 with an additional dose of acid. Raw, unfiltered licks are in tandem with pounding drums as airy pads and dainty sequences aim to soothe dancefloor madness. Extensively road-tested by Chris Liebing and blessed by Emmanuel Top for release via CLR, this is a mammoth revisit that lives up to the original’s timeless appeal.

Founded by influential techno lynchpin Chris Liebing in 1999 and reemerging in 2021 after a five-year hiatus, Create Learn Repeat (CLR) has hosted a range of artists like Shlomi Aber, Dubfire, Flug, Bjarki, DJ Dextro and more while also focusing on developing newer acts in the scene such as Risa Taniguchi, The Southern, and Klint.

Claudio PRC’s (@claudioprc) fifth album, Self Surrender, unfolds as a reflective journey of self-acceptance, a story embracing reality in its purest and most unfiltered form. Released via Delsin Records, this marks his first full-length album on the label, following the EP’s Rites of Passage (2021), Challenger Deep (2022) and Golden Scales (2024).

The album explores different and more leftfield sonic corners, while remaining true to Claudio’s cavernous, deep, and spiritual essence. It’s a journey through different styles, with echoes of the past and contemporary influences merging.

Self Surrender begins with ambient and dub echoes, moving through dark, minimal rhythms and deep techno. It blends techno and house elements, exploring themes of sin and redemption with cutting synths and tight grooves. This first half of the longplayer closes introspectively with a reflective ambient piece.

In the second part, the sound shifts to more energetic techno. It’s driven by heavy kicks and dreamy atmospheres, with acid-laden textures and haunting strings. To conclude, Self Surrender closes with an ethereal track, fully embodying the theme of surrender and acceptance.

Born in Sardinia and now based in Berlin, Claudio PRC has been a key figure in the deep techno scene since 2006. His music is deeply rooted in a philosophical approach, drawing from Detroit techno, electroacoustics, and his academic background in Music and New Technologies. Over the years, he has released on labels such as Prologue Music, Semantica Records, while also establishing his label 012 as a platform for art and sound research.

Revealing The Pressure

hailing from a modest town in the north-west of England, Frankie Bromley's profound passion and love for techno and electronic music are unmistakable. Introduced to the electronic soundscape at the age of nine by his elder brother, Frankie swiftly cultivated a discerning ear, setting the stage for his venture into music production and DJing during his formative teenage years.

Frankie's musical narrative blossomed notably through his sustained engagement with Manchester's renowned Eastern Bloc record store. Establishing meaningful connections with industry authorities at the store, he earned the opportunity to showcase his talents through vinyl performances at their in-store events. Before reaching the age of 18, Frankie took to the stages of London's Egg Club and Corsica Studios.

In the pivotal year of 2021, Frankie Bromley signed a deal with CLR Records, a label under the stewardship of the esteemed German figure, Chris Liebing. His inaugural EP named Forgiveness, released in September 2021, marked CLR Records' return to techno after a five-year hiatus. As one of the emerging talents in the scene, Frankie's association with the label heralds positive developments for the future.

Venturing beyond the UK in 2022, Frankie embarked on his first international gigs, captivating audiences in Switzerland at the renowned D Club alongside Terrence Fixmer and Chris Liebing. Notably, he shared the stage once again with Chris Liebing in Frankfurt, his hometown.

What lies ahead for Frankie Bromley? Having dedicated several years to distancing himself from the music industry and immersing solely in the pursuit of music production and audio engineering, Frankie's forthcoming creations and artistic endeavors are poised to be a source of admiration and delight in the evolving landscape of electronic music.
