The 6th release for the emerging Addictive Behaviour label comes in the form of relative scene newcomers Handra – an exciting new duo hailing from Poland – who’s dark, yet at points liquid tinged, minimal take on DnB hints that we will be hearing a lot of from these two in the future.

The two cuts on offer, set for release on September 15th, combine a nice ear for melody and harmonic progression alongside top notch sound design and banging, uncomplicated, rolling dancefloor beats. Elements of found sound, lively up the compositions adding a unique twist to their tightly coiled, minimal old school referencing productions, with disembodied pitched vocal samples offering up almost Burial-esq moments of emotional nostalgia.

Stay Away starts life in a vat of natural ambience; the sound of passing cars and distant laughter are evident as the rat-a-tat-tat of jazzy rim-shots usher in the dancefloor ready 2-step beat whilst dubwise stabs ping away in the background. The tune drops into a looping, industrial smeared techy roller with modern bassline science cosying up to warm, affecting sub work and futuristic, alien sound effects, one-shots and classic sounding vocal samples. The minimal, loopy nature of the main sections are addictive and when combined with the tunes natural, found sound ambience and organic sound effects create a highly charged, humbly original darkstep number for the freshman class of 2014.

With heaps of experience to draw on, and a forward thinking label backing them, we can only imagine that big things are afoot for Handra.

Sydney-based, classically-trained electronic music producer Royalston returns to Med School with his unique brand of glitchy tech drum+bass.

Previous Med School outings including "The Test" (New Blood 010) and "Glitchbitch" (More Blood 010) brought Royalston into the spotlight, and his music has found favour with the likes of dBridge, Loxy, Fresh, Marky, Rob Da Bank, TC, Matrix, John B, Lynx, Blokhe4d and London Elektricity. Renowned for his idiosyncratic but ever on-point style, Royalston's eclectic and experimental sound has set him apart from the crowd and this release is no exception.

"Cerulean Blue" sets the tone with tense, trembling synth tone and stern, smacking drums. A stunning A-side gem, there's a sense of foreboding from the off, accentuated by groaning bass sweeps and intricate rhythms. Outstanding as ever, Royalston's latest works will no doubt appeal to the discerning dancefloor DJ.

Ill Truth have been biding their time recently, spending hours in the studio to slowly build with expert electronic craftsmanship for the ‘Hollow Game EP’ which will add another monument towards their ascending career. Following a plethora of support on the scene’s most resounding, underground imprints, they’ve returned with ‘Lightbreak’ and ‘Hollow Game’, bringing the gritty, sub terranean sounds that they’re renowned for. Ensuring that they stay at the height of their game whilst paying homage to the type of drum & bass which act as the genre’s backbone, Ill Truth never sacrifices viability for commercial appeal, time and time again delivering cut after sonic cut that would easily find itself at home in the darkest of clubs.

With ‘Hollow Game’, Ill Truth draws you into their subtle, yet dynamic soundscape. However, this time you’re pulled into a softer shade of musicality. Featuring artist Michael E.T. adds his production ingenuity for the liquid track and female vocals are manipulated to add a rhythmic humanism to its melody. With each break propped up by cranking drum peddles and subtle quakes of bass, it’s easy to become lost in the ethereal side of Ill Truth’s discography. The producers use this single to demonstrate both their versatility and talent within the studio.

A new addition to our Dispatch LTD imprint, we welcome Hertfordshire based duo Tephra & Arkoze for their debut ‘Ascertain EP’. Avid Dispatch followers for a number of years now, the pair have been hard at work, developing their armoury in the studio, earning releases for the likes of Invisible and Vandal in the process and we are pleased to bring them on board.

With strong support coming in from Break & Ant TC1, the EP is made up of four tracks, including features from German based collaborator Survey on ‘This World’ and core label MC Fokus bringing the vocal for title track ‘Ascertain’. Closed off with two superb solo tracks, ‘Nighthawk’ plunges to the deepest depths, before the callous ‘Inside Out’ locks off the EP. Four original tracks make up the EP and two were played on Friction’s Radio 1 show last year; ‘So Near’ and also ‘These Feelings’, which receives a contrasting tech funk remix from Zero T.
