Vélosonifiqué is a sonic representation of the ebbing and flowing journey that a cyclist embarks upon along the Greenway. Composed entirely of sampled bike sounds, the familiar sounds of bells and ticking spokes are warped and manipulated into new tones that portray the experience of cycling - speed, fatigue, and progress.

Locomotion

This project delves into the sound world of Number Stations - radio stations which have been used for decades to transmit encrypted messages to undercover spies. These number stations are still in frequent use today, and yet there is very little information to be found on their origins or their meaning.

Not only is there mystery surrounding what these messages are and who is transmitting them, but the sound of these recordings is a mystery in and of itself as well. Consisting of ambient noise, trills of morse code, and voices barking out numbers and words in various languages, there is a world of sound within these recordings coloured by intrigue and radio artifacts.

The following excerpt of ambient music is part of a larger project, currently still in progress, which was undertaken with the support of Brand X's Creative Studios Experimental Sound Residency program.

Hello? Are You Still There?

I am an emerging composer and sound designer living and working on Gadigal land, trained at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music. My current practice centres around the creation of electro-acoustic soundscapes and installation-based work, however I also compose for chamber ensembles, choir, electroacoustic and electronic ensembles, and I do sound design and composition for theatre productions.

As a composer, my work is typically rooted in a sense of place. I am drawn to the ambient sounds of natural phenomena and the built environment, drawing inspiration from the sound-making systems that are inherent to these settings. I strip back the sounds of the everyday world that surrounds us, recontextualising them as textural, evolving and evocative soundscapes.
