Up next on Bricolage is the debut EP from Cortecx. 

Ryan Doherty is a Scottish producer, Glasgow born and bred, now based in Hong Kong. Cortecx has slowly but surely worked on evolving his techniques and process for several years now and has sculpted a unique take on all things rhythmic based along the way.

If you are familiar with our "Turadh" compilation from last year then you may be aware of his phenomenal track, "Reflections".

The "Above The Clouds" EP takes things up a notch. Cerebral techno that pulls you in to another dimension. We start things off with a bubbly and edgeless ambient soundscape that gently sinks its way into your consciousness. After that we enter the darker side of Cortecx with two shadowy and dynamic tracks that bring his relentless and powerful percussive elements to the forefront. The weighty rhythms propel both tracks skyward in a meticulous manner while the mysterious layers of sound design add an extra enigmatic elements to the already hypnotic mood that glimmers throughout.

Cortecx closes out proceedings with the astonishing "Plasma". An epic journey that best encapsulates his talents for mixing atmospherics and tempo. A sonic excursion of thumping kicks that come shrouded in emotive tones and crystalline pads. A mesmerizing ending to a stellar debut release.

Recorded at 'In Vitro II', Club Moral, Antwerp (Belgium) in 1986 and was released on cassette tape alongside other live recordings by Experiment Incest, Lakoste, Vidna Obmana (Dirk Serries / Fear Falls Burning, who laterly played some times at my own Forum für Experimentalelektronik in Frankfurt, Germany) and Coup De Grace.

I treated the bass guitar. James Dean Brown, who invented 'techno' in early 80s, aka Romulus Coeurque, aka Narcotic Syntax (and later becoming a PERLON superstar and had a collab w/ Helena Hauff) teached and conducted a variety of then-ultra-advanced electronic devices in playing themselves.

Under the influence of Emmanuel Top, Bam Bam, DJ Pierre, Phuture and many others, Chrome Beats is a Techno Acid producer from Antwerpen - Belgium, born in Wetteren a couple of years before the 70´s. At the age of 25 got his first TB 303 and experienced the Acid scene from the late 80s. His first tracks were produced using Cubase (simple notation software) a sampler, the 303 and some FX. These days most of Chrome Beats's music comes from software and once a while still uses hardware. The result of all this,  is a punchy sound making no prisoners outside the dance-floor. Infused energetic beats characteristic from his home country, merged with a Detroit feel and 303 reso tensions controlled wisely with a special magic touch in between London and Chicago.We travel safely balanced across skilled terra-formations of layered pads and bubbling pulses.
