It was a morning of rare beauty. The golden sun bathed the streets of Lille, reflecting off windows and warming the air with an unparalleled gentleness. The birds sang louder than usual, and the city itself seemed wrapped in a serene enchantment. Vano, still an ordinary man, stood on the balcony of his apartment, a cup of coffee in hand, gazing at the scene before him. He was not yet Captain Vano, the hero of humanity. At that moment, he was just another citizen, savoring a perfect morning.

Yet, despite the almost unreal beauty of the day, something felt off. A subtle tension lingered in the air, invisible but palpable. The clocks seemed slightly out of sync, the shadows of the trees stretched at strange angles, and a sudden wind swept through, carrying an indescribable scent—ancient, like a memory from another time.

For weeks, scientists around the world had been reporting troubling anomalies. These disturbances included gravitational fluctuations, inexplicable shifts in the speed of light, and even objects frozen in impossible states. Though these phenomena had not yet reached the public consciousness, a select group of researchers feared they were harbingers of a major upheaval.

Vano, without access to this knowledge, still felt an unshakable unease. A deep intuition gnawed at him. What he didn’t know yet was that these gravitational anomalies were the first signs of the Great Collapse—an event that would soon shatter the fundamental laws of reality.

When the Great Collapse struck, aging ceased abruptly. Living beings found themselves trapped in physical immortality, but this "immortality" quickly revealed itself to be a curse. Memories, emotions, and traumas accumulated endlessly, creating a new and profound human suffering.

That morning in Lille, as he sipped his coffee, Vano had no way of knowing that this peaceful day would be his last before everything changed. What he could not yet imagine was that the cessation of aging would open the door to a golden age of space exploration, but at the cost of immense human sacrifices and growing inequalities.

In the decades to come, the ordinary man he was would face cosmic challenges. He would survive the loss of loved ones, the collapse of reality itself, and centuries of conflict. He would rise to become Captain Vano, a symbol of hope in a fractured universe, ready to defy the darkness and remind humanity of what it had forgotten: its humanity.

This is my track that was created for the Materia Collective (http://www.materiacollective.com/) project NIBEL: Ori And The Blind Forest Remixed. The album releases on March 18th, a week after the 1 year anniversary of this charming game.
