Taro Records is over the moon to welcome küetzal back to the label for what is a very special project. Featuring Jonathan Lykes of Black Joy Experience, this EP takes his liberation chants and sets them to electronic rhythms to fire up the soul. In return for his gracious permission we have agreed to donate 50% of all profits to his project. Black Joy Experience seeks to build a holistic energy praxis in movement and organizing spaces as a mechanism to cultivate joy, love, healing, resiliency and a commitment to envision the next 50-100 years of Black and Brown cultural, political and economic futures. Taro Records and küetzal are proud to amplify this message and hopefully provide a little support through sales of the EP. The music itself is tough, grooving techno for the most part, percussive for the floor, but also broken in places and infused with rebellious energy. Label bosses Taro Division and Aaron Udy both hit the remix separately this time, on request from the artist.
