Capricorn 1 is the brainchild of bassist Paul Francis and is a Instrumental band playing original tunes.The music spans many genres including Rock funk, Jazz and world music.....

The musical concept was Inspired, not only by Paul’s experiences touring with Paul Weller, JTQ, and Galliano but also with his musical relationship with drummer Harbans Shrih JTQ, Animal nightlife) & Style Council drummer Steve White
The tunes on the 1st Cd were written by Paul, Harbens Shrih, Dave O’higgins and Mick Talbot from The Style Council
They were recorded in 1990 for Eddie Pillars Acid Jazz Label and had been intended to be a follow up to a to their previous Acid Jazz project spearheaded by drummer Harbans called Whats What “Open Channel D “ )
Unfortunately it was not to be and the tracks lay dormant in the vaults at Sonica studios South London (apart from 2 tracks licensed to Focus Music Library which have been successfully used by The BBC for the programme "about the good life" & Homes under the hammer) www.bbc.co.uk/ and for other TV channels around the world.
The band has diversified over the years but the original line up for this recording was:

Indias Groove Pt 2

Paul Francis is an Electric/Upright Bass player and backing vocalist Writer and producer from Camden Town North London.

Paul Weller Midge Ure London Beat,The James Taylor Quartet Ian Hunter,Steve Hillage, Maggie Bell & Chris Farlowe Paul Gilbert,Producers Braund Reynolds,Ashley Slater, Carl Verhayen, Mike Mangini & Virgil Donato, Antonio Sanchez to name a few.

TV appearances have included Top of the Pops & various others around the Globe. He is currently recording the 2nd CD for his fusion band Capricorn 1 and begins a stint on the Story of Guitar Heroes show in the Uk from January 2017
 
Paul also continues playing live both as a dep for other projects and as Band Leader for The Blues Associates and The Capricon 1 fusion Band, in venues across the U.K. as well as composing . He has recently finished a short biography outlining his career for R&D media which can be streamed on YouTube 

(His Teaching duties have included Bimm, Acm The International Guitar Festival and Southampton Solent University)
