"FRANTZ is from Brooklyn, NY and had local radio and Video Music Box shape his tastes before MTV's AMP took hold, which later got him a high school internship at Astralwerks Records/Caroline Distribution picking up on sounds from major label remixes to "strictly underground" labels. Since then he's been committed to chasing cuts that lie somewhere between jovial and frenzied energy on the Rave/Groove spectrum. This naturally led him to a stint at famed digger's delight, The Thing in Greenpoint.
  Having spent some years in Mexico City just as that scene firmly re-established itself in the global view, he found a space within it playing disco, all manner of house, UK garage at famed clubs and parties Sunday Sunday, Departamento, Pervert, Japan, Por Detroit, and Yuyu.
  Since returning to NYC he's continued to forge his sound around town while daytiming as a buyer at Academy Records, of used collections and supporting burgeoning local (and sometimes foreign) electronic artists and labels. More recently he's featured on a V/A release on Death On Wax, contributing a delightfully sleazy disco edit that works on the dancefloor (or a leather bar).  
 This selection for There Is No Planet Earth is a small sharing of forever favorites, re-discoveries, and new obsessions. Here's our recording from @valentin-hauptmann and me at this years lovely Zmar Festival and we're super happy to finally share it with you. Thanks to all these fantastic creatures who shared this memorable saturday afternoon with us. For the two of us it has been one of the best moments this year.

The sound might be a bit off due to the leveler, odd EQing, intense fun and a great Friday night. But we hope that after some editing it’s edible now!

"Deon Jamar is a Detroit native whose roots stem from the crates of family.

Coming from a household where his father was a DJ, turntables and records were always around. 

It was in his discovery of Detroit's underground where he found the inspiration to follow in his father's footsteps.

 

Deon’s DJ career began in 2015 as resident DJ & organizer for the monthly hip-hop showcase "Bluecollar Gentleman". 

During this time he would also begin working with Theo Parrish to promote the Music Gallery party series and also working behind the scenes for the Sound Signature record label. This work would culminate in a co-curation role for the DJ Kicks compilation “Detroit Forward” (K7 Records) where he enlisted hometown artists to represent the progressive sounds of today. His track, 

"North End Funk", was selected to join the mix, making his production credit debut..


Aside from just playing gigs, Deon also enjoys programming events of his own such as the "Healin' Session" party series and the music and art exhibition, "Black Music".


Black Music has since evolved into the home for Deon's original productions. 

Launching the label with his debut album, “Altars”."
