Born in Cardiff but raised in West Africa, Ben has written for artists as diverse as Tim Deluxe, Cicada, Bob Sinclar, Fatboy Slim and Natalie Imbruglia, and his dance tracks have been championed on both sides of the Atlantic by DJs from Pete Tong to Joe Claussel. Magda teams up with Suade, a producer &amp; friend from Newcastle that we're sure to see more of, together they bring forth a true builder, a creeper; the type of track that reveals itself more with each layering sequence. A masterclass in dynamics, ‘Fixation’ is a dark groove that’s haunted by a chilling vocal, wavering synth vibrato, unexpected melodies, and juxtaposes of funk. Angular drums hit alongside swells of percussive echoes but, the focus of the track revolves around the bassline’s movement. As catchy as it is esoteric.

INFO / ABOUT THE EDIT

Thomas Sonora heard this song from Tina Dico in a small german TV Show back in 2009 for the first time. It became one of his favorite singer/songwriter pieces (and no there are not so many...). When Thomas recovered the track in his library in late 2012, he decided to make this edit to bring the great mood, the great voice and melodics to the floor. The result is a version that gently touches the original with a lot of respect, adding beats that fit the dramaturgy of the song and preserves its mood: emotional house music for special moments in the club.


ABOUT THOMAS SONORA 

Thomas Sonora is DJ and producer since 1997. Three years ago he founded the deep house imprint Kolorit Records (Kolorit Digital), that gains a lot of attention and respect lately. Thomas is now running the label with Jorge Takei and still produces and remixes house music whenever he finds the time.
