Blue Lampshade, the first single from NOVYI LEF's upcoming EP, Ethic Or Aesthetic, launches straight into their trademark synth-laden, political electroclash. With lyrics borrowed from Russian art manifestos – cut up and reassembled in random order – the feelings of optimism and utopianism of these documents, a century on from their conception, become a rallying cry for a new future. Backed by an array of synthesiser hardware, sounding somewhere between New Order and Le Tigre, Blue Lampshade offers a tantalising taste of what's in store.
