The Cologne-based producer has never settled for the predictable norm, working his way through projects from all corners of the musical landscape on his eclectic journey. With releases on the likes of Innervisions & Correspondant, Motip's productions drip in analog tones & bespoke indie-punk influence. We're thrilled to mark his return to XYZ with the Long Shadow EP.

Long Shadow whisks into revolving percussive rhythms, as a signature rising synth elevates energy from the get-go. Motip's vocals cut deep into the track's backbone, as the instrumentals thin to allow space to let the prose to wander. Simply put - this is the sound of Motip White at his very best.

On the flip, sights narrow directly on the dancefloor. Tiny House harnesses a bellowing bassline that shakes the foundation, as ominous melodies & metallic synth-work mobilize momentum. A peak-time affair that showcases Motip's knack for refreshing the ear of seasoned of club heads.

Damian Lazarus’ imprint Crosstown Rebels will release a solo EP by German DJ and producer Jonathan Kaspar in August. Transcending melodic techno and sultry house, the 4-track Overfree release echoes the cinematic but club-driven aesthetic of the Bonn-born artist.

Reflecting on his Overfree EP, Kaspar says he is "super happy about my first full solo EP with Crosstown Rebels and also about the four tracks which Damian selected for it. They somehow show a whole DJ Set of mine, containing different emotions and feelings: starting deep, peaking and ending conciliatory." Enter the rabbit hole through the title track and its constellation of starry synth notes and a chugging bassline. Magic. 

Ten floats in next as a slow-burning melody curls around a bleepy percussive pattern. On the flip, Kaspar goes deep via Piece Of, as staccato piano notes and a soft kickdrum evokes ethereal textures, the kind that marks the end of an all-night-long DJ set. Kaspar collaborates with Canadian singer and songwriter Graham Baxter on the closing track Unify. It's a sublime meeting of the minds as Baxter’s ghostly vocals collide with Kaspar's dreamy grooves and rippling bassline. Surreal synergies, made with the dancefloor and introspective listener in mind.

Jonathan Kaspar is a Cologne-based producer and DJ with an evolving collection spanning Cocoon, Innervisions and Kompakt. Kaspar's roots in dance music stem from his student days studying medicine, when he promoted parties in his native Bonn, Germany, to fund his studies. After graduating, he followed a winding road in producing and DJing and delivered his debut release on Upon You Records in 2015. A slew of solid releases followed suit on Objektivity, These Eyes, ouï and Kompakt. Like his productions, Kaspar's DJ sets convey stories, stitching a range of atmospheric tones and tingling melodies that capture his audience's imagination. He garners a residency at Cologne's esteemed Gewölbe club and enjoys curating all-night-long sets and inviting international names to play alongside him. Beyond Cologne, Kaspar's played at German institutions Watergate, Kater Blau and Fusion Club, as well as Volt Club in Milan, T7 in Paris and Extrema Open Air in Hasselt.

'Our French brother returns to TAU with his latest outing, Return From Delta EP - a collection of four tracks that further cement his reputation for classy synthwave-inspired dance floor artillery. Darlyn is based in Valencia, where he is always deeply immersed in his audio lab, concocting new and unique ways to express his creativity. In 2021 he dropped the Doble Impacto EP, and now he’s back to bring us more synthesised freshness as only he can do...

We enter with the title cut, oozing emotive energy and maintaining that TAU ethos of future-vintage. A bright, shimmering riff forms the core of this track, penetrating deep into your emotional centre while the beats are punchy and the retro sheen utterly irresistible.

‘Fifth Wave’ follows up with a more serious tone, though still very much rooted in captivating the dance floor. Once it really gets going, a beauti- fully composed melody drifts in and transports us to a place of warmth and joy. One of Darlyn’s key skills is to tell stories with his music and truly take you on a journey, which he does with panache on this cut.
Then we have ‘Gerónimo’, which utilises a classic entrancing disco-esque undulating bassline. Layers of synth and a myriad vocal clips unify to produce a stirring atmosphere that will have you gripped throughout. Wait for the uplifting second half, when the vocals are unveiled in full. Magic!

Closing out this release is ‘Umbrella Man’, which feels more experimental and heady. Darlyn incorporates guitars, soothing vocals and a hypnotic bassline to create a piece of music that sits in its own lane.'

The poolside was a place of elegant sophistication, ladies watched hazily from loungers as gentlemen swam beaneath the lush blue ripples. Over by the bar the music could be heard pouring from small monitors, it echoed blissfully through the open air and travelled beyond the walls of the palace. All is well for what lies within but over the wall, a perilous plague had began to unfold. They remained happily ignorant inside the palace whilst the world fell to turmoil.

With this in mind, we took Ecuadorian sound-seer Nicola Cruz’s latest audiovisions and refracted them through the minds of some of the world’s hottest young cultural interpreters. To provide you with the best possible approximation of what the results feel like, we then sent an intern to loiter outside a local Heart-Opening Ceremony to get people’s unfiltered reactions just moments after they awakened to their new place in the universal order.
