Alex Niggemann’s new EP 'Hurricane' (Balance Music) follows up the AEON label boss & producer's recent success, the stunning ‘Balance Presents…’ compilation, which dropped in October 2016. 

The upcoming EP features the exclusive track 'Hurricane (Club Mix)’, alongside the original, a new original 'Silhouettes & Sparks', plus remixes from Deetron & Denis Horvat.

Niggemann is forever breaking new ground. Where the compilation allowed him to curate a story through the medium of 'the mix', ‘Hurricane’ showcases the beginning of a new chapter for his melancholic-pop-driven alter ego 'The Shadow Self'. Both original tracks on the release are emotive melodies where thoughtful composition and vocals are key. 

‘I have been working on music like this for a while,’ Alex says. ‘As an artist, it’s important to reinvent myself, explore uncharted territory and have a wider view of how music can sound and how differently you can do things. This EP mirrors the music that I listen to when I’m traveling or relaxing; having a break from 4x4 beats, which usually rule my world. This also inspires me when I come back to produce House/Techno. 

‘It’s great that I can use this platform to introduce my new project ‘The Shadow Self’ to show a different ‘me’ on a label that transcends musical borders and supports the freedom of music as art… as art doesn’t have borders.’

'Hurricane' will be released on Friday 3rd February on Balance Music.

Tom Demac emerged midway through the new millennium as a producer and DJ whose ability to straddle various genres and styles with ease have been evident in a colourful and bustling production CV. From early releases on his own Electronique Audio label to singles on acclaimed labels such as Aus Music, liebe*detail, Drumcode and Pets Recordings, Demac has also found a regular home in Hypercolour over the years. "Sink Or Swim" here, oozes elegance from the first kick drum to the very last; a brooding build up of melodic keys and tension building pads swiftly evolves into an expansive and emotive main room floor filler, resplendent with huge gnarly bass hooks and driving drums. These are the tracks that defined our Burning Man – a wider palette of sounds than you may have heard from us in the past. We wanted to offer a platform to a variety of promising newcomers.

These are the tracks we’ve been supporting all year. All of them have been amplifying dance floors & deserts in their own unique way. Sounds from The Netherlands, Berlin, Austria, Athens, Mexico City, Dubai, Cape Town, Paris, New York and Copenhagen. Friends we’ve met on our travels, and invited into our family. A few months ago Eva was hanging out and messing around in my studio as she does so often (I love it <3 ) and wanted to know how an arpeggiator works. She obviously ended up with the most unconventional loop one can think of, but sounded so good we wrote a full track around it. HOSH loved it and Bob’s Your Dad’s Brother. Out now and part of the new Warung Beach Club compilation, alongside great talent like Jeremy Olander and Sean Branton.
