After a great response from Ejeca’s ‘Frequency‘ EP previously released on Sasha's imprint 'Last Night On Earth' in January 2013, the label continues to support his sound by releasing a new 4 track EP called ‘Contemplation’ that will be available on the 14th July consisting of a wide range of electronics from Ejeca’s many musical influences.

Never one to stick with a particular sound for too long, Ejeca has constantly explored numerous styles, reflecting his own eclectic taste in music and shows that he has no strict music policy. Just good quality and interesting electronic music, which is exactly what ‘Contemplation’ and Last Night On Earth are all about.

Bassheads - Is There Anybody Out There?

2015 will see German techno mainstay Stephan Bodzin ready to unleash his next full-length musical vision on the world. Entitled “Powers of Ten”, the 10-track album will land in June 2015 on his own Herzblut Recordings and provides another great insight into the melodically rich muscle mind of this modern great.
Says Stephan Bodzin of the LP: “Powers of Ten has been with me all my life and is named after a book that has been my background hiss, its confusing truth is my only real faith and its infinity shows me its finiteness. The album is about harmonies, melodies, rhythms. It is an homage to Bob Moog, full of techno beats and sounds and space and party and ecstasy and dancing and listening, and crying and feeling. It is a journey, a philosophy of life, a view of the world, a vague perception. It is my wife, my children, my family, my friends, my passion, my enemy, my greatest fulfillment, my fear, my deepest peace, my power, all my love.”
As such, this album is hugely personal and is filled with cerebral messages and well thought out concepts. All this shines through and makes it an all the more engaging listen from start to finish. Kicking off with the spine tingling chords and louche beats of ‘Singularity’ cuts like ‘Lila’ then continue to confirm that Stephan Bodzin has a classical understanding of melody that is way beyond your average.
‘Blue Giant’, ‘Wir’ and ‘Ix’ all manage to be uplifting and thoughtful at the same time as driven and groovy, whilst ‘Birth’ comes on with a hymnal high note, long tailed pads and subtly shifting beats. The ghostly grooves of ‘Zulu’ mark a majestic mid point to the album, which then continues to seduce with spiritual synths and more beautiful melodies on cuts like ‘Odyssee’ as well as the album’s standout title track.
Unfolding coherently and in soothing fashion, this album once again proves that few producers in the modern world have a knack for melody and an ear for sonic ingenuity quite like Stephan Bodzin.


Singularity

Back in May, we Debuted a track called "Just"; you might just have heard of it. @feelmybicep are no strangers to breakout belters, but even by their standards this one has been picking up a heap of plaudits. So naturally we're more than willing to help facilitate their next step toward world domination, especially given as it arrives via their own cherished namesake imprint.

This, the title track from another forthcoming collaborative release with Hammer (an artist the Belfast boys are putting serious muscle behind) is equally tense and beguiling. It hooks you in from the word go, with a nagging piano lead, ooft-y mini breakdown and shiver-inducing sirensong calling through the mist. Close your eyes and you can imagine "Dahlia" laying waste to festival stages – oh wait, that actually did actually happen at Bicep's homecoming BR. Go figure.

As the dust finally begins to settle after the release of Pan-Pot's massive album 'The Other', it's time to unleash a collection of heavy hitting reworks from the best and brightest stars of todays techno elite. Through careful consideration and an acute attention to detail, we couldn't be more elated to confirm ten artists we know and love to contribute their unique vision to Second State's first ever remix package.

Kicking things off with a heavily twisted alteration of 'Attention' is Nicole Moudaber and it's a tangled, dark trek through dense acoustic layers of audible madness. Next up is the Hamburg duo

Extrawelt with their twist on 'Optimistic Grey' and they deliver a beautiful blend of emotion and groove they are synonymous for.

Following suit is another passionately romantic number from man of the hour, Stephan Bodzin, and his take feels like floating through a sea of clouds, resulting in a timeless classic to be a focal point in any set for years to come.

Next in line is Ray Kajioka's take on '808 Nirvana' and it's a cosmic ride, ripe with swirling atmospherics laid over big churning drums and rolling cymbals.

Following up on the second 12“ of this LP is a man who needs no introduction: Carl Cox. And in true Coxy fashion he turns 'Riot' into just that: a big room, tension building monster!

Broken Engine' is the next track to get worked over and Wigbert delivers a stunning mix of shimmering tones and growling bass resulting in a lush venture through a cosmic backdrop of flickering stars in deep space.

Joseph Capriati ensues with his vision of 'Fugitives' and he brilliantly keeps the vibe of the original yet adds his trademark big room flair to take it to another level of driving euphoria.

Enlisting the talents of Alan Fitzpatrick to remix one of the slower listening tracks on the album turned out to be magic. With his signature percussion, Fitzpatrick takes the parts and creates a dive deep into sultry smooth waters of seduction.

The first of our last two remixes, which are digital exclusives, come from Paul Ritch and he delivers a grinding rendition of 'Riot', expertly crafted for the more euphoric peak time occasions.

Last and certainly not least is a man on the rise, Kevin Knapp with his twist on his own collaboration with Pan-Pot: 'Get In'. An expertly crafted tech house jam exploding with energy and attitude perfect for any moment, day or night, indoors or out.

No matter the time or place, there is something here for everyone and we are truly fulfilled and honored to present this package of cutting edge artists to celebrate this landmark moment. We know you will enjoy!

After kicking off 2016 with the massive “Don’t Need EP” from Callahan featuring “that” remix from man of-the-moment Hodge, DEXT is back with another banger of an EP from fast rising producer Mella Dee. 

The man from Doncaster, UK has been creating a name for himself on the scene of late with releases on Redlight’s Lobster Boy and Sweden based Omena Records; his DEXT Debut certainly doesn’t disappoint. Over the last year or so, he has been masterfully fusing driving house & techno percussion with 90’s jungle influences and his EP for us is, we think, his strongest work to date. 

The thunderous “Deep Soul” opens things up with filtered amens, chopped-up vocals and Reece bass lines; the perfect take on the late 1993 UK sound, honed & updated with a driving techno twist for 2016.  

“Universal” is a straight up 4x4 DEXT jacker, with raw house, UKG and moodier elements blending together for maximum effect.

Finally, “Circular” is the most “heads down” of the 3 originals - hypnotic synths and incessant drum patterns wind around each other to create a seriously classy, broken, techno track.

To round it all off we have a stunning rework of the title track from Endian (Non Plus, Birdie, Secretsundaze). Twisting up the original elements, this dark warehouse version has been crafted to perfection - if you liked Hodge’s remix for us, you’ll love this too!

But as things often go in electronic music, her past year has been a whirlwind, seeing her career skyrocket as a recurring headliner at Phonox and now a label boss of her own Coconut Beats. Now focusing on her production side, HAAi has unleashed her third solo release called 'FEELS', a mystical, emotive and absolutely momentous club track.
“I started working on ’FEELS’ a few months ago when my life was going through a pretty big shift,” she explains. "Every big change, as well as the harsher frequencies, were designed to represent a feeling of what was happening at that time, and that everything is temporal.”
'FEELS' is out on December 15.
