My first attempt at creating ANYTHING in Ableton. 
Mostly just figuring out how MIDI works. 

I'll upload different benchmarks to be able to track my progress.

Benchmark 15/03-2017

This one ended up quite similar to the first one - big surprise. 

My focus is still less on melody and harmony, and more on better production (which hopefully will be substantially better over time). 

I have also grown better at using various audio effects such as limiters, eq's, sidechain.

Benchmark 20/04-2017

Finally managed to get a studio set up. Definitely more motivated to work on stuff since I have a controller to play on for once, lol. 

Anyways… More chord progression, yay! It’d be a lie if I said this type of track is right up my alley, but it was fun making nonetheless.

Daydream

Ayo,

Decided to revisit this idea. Had some potential. The mix it actually quite good (especially compared to the last version).
I tried to do some sound design as well (Gritty bass, Layered claps, buildup crashes, and that weird ending fractal effect). I think i've made some great progress, and i'm exciting to finally be able to get some of the ideas in my head out there.

Ps. My synthesizer's midi broke. Gotta get that fixed before I can work on new stuff.

Benchmark 15/09-2017

What up. For no reason at all I decided to do a five day challenge. In hindsight it was probably a bad idea considernig the fact that I haven't touched Ableton in like 2 months - but it worked out. Sort of. The mix is too gritty and the final half of the track feels too loud. 

The theme and the form is a mess. I had a pretty clear idea when I started. I imagined some sort of Anomalie tribute but halfway through the challenge, I felt like it was too uninspired so i just deleted everything but small piano piece (which is kinda out of time butwhocaresmanlmao123). Then I just started adding random stuff - then deleting it - and replacing it with som even worse crap (Cough. Intro). 

I primarily worked around some presets I found in my Roland Fa 08 synthesizer. Then i beefed the shit out of them and added a ton of erosion (especially in the Dnb-ish section. If theres anything I've learned from this, its's not to do neuro basses with a shitty lead preset. It took no less than 4 hours just to get some somewhat decent sounds recorded. The piano is also mono which probably is a bad idea.

In the end this was a complete waste of time. Precious time I could have spent watching Mr. Bill tutorials - but hey, he's a cunt anyways.
