Description for "Make a Way" by JLTHAKAD

"Make a Way" was crafted as my (JLTHAKAD) final assignment for my Bachelor of Arts in Audio Production, completed a while back with https://www.derrickharvin.com/about for my instructor, who worked with Kanye West, Hilary Duff, and more. This project required me to produce an original track from the ground up, incorporating all the skills I developed throughout my studies. As part of the assignment, I was tasked with featuring a vocalist other than myself, so I collaborated with Heavymetal TRVP, whose dynamic performance elevated the track.

The production process was immersive. After composing the beat, I invited Heavy to record his vocals. He initially sent a version recorded on his phone, which captured a raw, authentic energy. We later recorded in my home studio to achieve higher audio quality, though I found the phone version’s unique character more compelling. Multiple iterations were explored to perfect the final mix.

Creative Vision: 
When creating the beat, I initially pictured underwater vibes. After receiving Heavy’s vocals, my vision shifted to a "blasting off in a rocket" mode. I wanted the listener to feel as tho they were preparing to launch, engines pumping, countdown ticking and then boom, headed to outer space! So hopefully the music feels like it’s launching into outer space, which was my way of putting my unique mark on Heavy’s vocals where he introduced his own vision, resulting in a powerful and cohesive track.
