"a foggy cave deep in the forest, night time, blue light crawling, walls dripping, glistening pools, faeries with sharp teeth and claws bigger than their bodies-- a beast from a different time long gone awakens beneath the water, bubbles and ripples give way to their emerging head, scaled and eyes aflame with fury, mouth agape with insatiable hunger, their body unraveling upwards fills the cavern with refracted light dancing across mirrored scales, expanding beyond the cavern walls collapsing into pools crashing

she emerges from the cave mouth
into the night time air, mouth agape jaws held wide open
to reach the moon and rip her from the sky

the moon's absence creates a vortex
stars and trees sucked in
waves crash in all directions---skyward---hellward----
nations swallowed whole

spit out bones of ash and glass
the glue unglued

clouds cover the wound

the snake plunges from the heavens through the night
towards the water below
slices into the froth to its depths

where sound is silence
