this wonderful song was written for Ethel Merman's voice when Merrick and Jerry Herman hoped to lure her to play Dolly in 1961. She refused and the song went into the trunk. Later in 1970 Ethel became the last of the Broadway Dollys, ushering the show into being the longest running musical ever, at the time. This version done by the fabulous Dolores Gray was in a 1990 London concert version of the show. Enjoy.
