Broken District presents Jus Jam “90s Anxiety”, the first mini LP from the label co-founder, offering a deep dive into his hazy musical world inspired by the nineties aesthetic. A true journey, ranging
from UK garage to dreamy hip-hop beats, early-electro sounds and new-jack swing. After signing a few tracks as part of the imprint’s VA series, it was only a matter of time for Jus Jam to release his
first mini LP on Broken District ! “90's Anxiety” is a contemporary synthesis of the artist’s musical influences, deeply rooted in the 90's
underground culture, such as Hip hop, UK-based club music (garage, jungle, 2-step), broken beat and breaks. With soul and jazz, these are the styles that forged the musical footprint of Jus Jam, often
described as dreamy, contemplative productions boosted by sharp beats and smooth basslines.
On the opening track “Daydream” and its B-side sister “Ryoji’s Dream”, Jus Jam delivers 2 dreamy Hip-hop compositions, halfway between trap-music, seinen manga soundtracks and Lynch’s surreal
cinema. These two ones are made for forward-thinking hip-hop heads.
The A2 track “Neopolis Sound” is a subtle ode to early-electro and breakbeat sounds, but also sci-fi movies and video games from the nineties. It warms the ears for what we consider the highlight of
the LP, “Higher Sense”, a modern and dreamy vision of breaks / jungle music with elements of jazz and ambient. This is Jus Jam’s style at its best, mixing plenty of influences to create something new.
Flipside opens with the title track “90s Anxiety”, a contemporary take on new jack swing mixed with elements of house and funk, brought by the live recorded slap bass. Up next, “Wide” goes full 2-step
garage with its steamy atmosphere, syncopated beat and powerful sub-basses. The break, with its eerie organ keys and violins, makes it an instant classic and unforgettable dancefloor filler.
The above mentioned hip-hop inspired track “Ryoji’s Dream” wraps up the LP and brings a delicate conclusion to this multi-influenced release, once again expanding the Broken District to newer, uncharted territories.

Fred Berthet is this mysterious Frenchman known as DJ STEEF who produced slow & funky downtempo house tracks in the past years. Based in Marseille this quiet but not shy producer has built his way on many different projects since the early 90’s where it all started.
After composing singles with Antoine Boullé under the pseudonym Venus Attack Project (on the label US Guidance), he created the band known as Troublemakers with his friend Lionel Corsini & Arnaud Taillefert. After an over-welcomed first LP ("Doubts & Convictions" on Guidance rec) and well received worldwide, Concecration came on the second one on Blue Note (“Express Way”) pushing The Troublemakers at one of the top electronic band in the French scene.
Fred later on focused his attention on Copyshop project, influenced by the 80’s (Gomma, Toy Tonics, La Dame Noir, Numoment...). Producing now under DJ Steef its was the occasion to synthesize his musical roots such as 80’s electro pop, poisonous disco, classy french influences, insistent downtempo and up warding house. Fred has found in his alter ego DJ Steef the perfect combinasion of incredible fat, slow, funky downtempo house tracks that every body is so crazy about.Its not about fashion but clearly about style & thats why we all love his production stamped BIOMIX, in the shadows, under cover & simply outstanding.

Bueno, mi gran afición por la música, me vino  a los 15 años, con grupos leyenda como Tangerine Dream y Kraftwerk. Manejaba instrumentos de enorme cableado, de la electrónica de gran artesanía. Empecé con la electrónica más experimental, como Cabaret Voltaire ( Richard H. Kirk , descanse en paz), me interesé por el techno pop, con Ultravox, visage, depeche mode, softcell, luego llegó en los 90s, la jungle music, drum n bass, minimal , techno beat., trance, progresiva,, chill out, lounge, house, deep house, etc. En paralelo , la New Age , Jazz, tuvieron su lugar y sus melodías y vibraciones  me encantaron. 

 En resumen son muchos años, dentro de la electrónica, Jazz y New Age, sin abstracciones y con músicos y armonía muy definidas.
