When I wrote this song, I was working long hours as a technology manager and wanted nothing more than to retire and immerse myself in music. I loved to attend a monthly small Singer/Songwriter workshop in Jersey City called 'The Spaghetti Sessions'.  But work kept keeping me away.  One time I called Frank, the host, to tell him that I was, yet again, stuck at work late and would miss the fun.  I said, "I can see retirement on the horizon, but can't touch it yet, I have to wait, I have to wait a little longer".  He told me to hang up the phone and write that song. And so, I did and here it is!  As the song is about getting to where I am now, I felt it should be the first song released.

Gotta Wait

One morning in late July my wife and neighbor were headed out to pick Raspberries and Blueberries. There was a warm misty rain falling and I asked if they intended to pick berries in the rain and they said, "why not, it's a beautiful day". To which I replied, "you are like 2 flower children going to pick berries in the rain". So my neighbor asked me 'are you going to write that song?'. When I saw her again a week later, she asked if I had written the song yet and I told her I had not yet started. And the next time I saw her she again checked in on the progress on the song, so I went inside and started writing this song.

Picking Berries in the Rain

Background:
I was living in Jersey City where I was invited to attend a monthly small Singer/Songwriter workshop called The Spaghetti Sessions.  I had not written any songs, but after strong encouragement from the host, I sat down and wrote this first song.  The song is about new love kisses that are deeply passionate.  Think of biting into a fully ripe summer peach, which is so juicy that there is no way to bite into it without getting peach juice all over your face! And so, this first song was conceived!

Tumbled

This song is about why I started playing guitar and how bought my first acoustic guitar, and my parents influence on this.  It is also about how we continue to have effect on others long after we leave this world.  Our actions affect others, and this continues in an ever widening sphere.    It is like the ripples caused by a pebble dropped in a quiet pond, which will travel slowly to the far shore. Just the same the ripples of our spirit continue effecting others long after we are gone.
