Each of these tracks were made in only a couple of days during random time off from shows on tour, in completely different locations, at completely different times, with completely different genres and artists (besides myself, although one could argue I was a completely different self at each of these sessions, but, I digress). Thriftworks and I sat down at his chill studio in Berkeley, CA and ended up sampling his cabinet hinges and a music box for our tune in the not so distant past, kLL sMTH and I in his heady paulo santo rinsed studio in Boulder, CO, Robotic Pirate Monkey also in their studio in Boulder, CO with a beautifully hazy view of the Rockies, and Samples at Mikey Fisher's studio in the tenderloin of San Francisco, with Samples collaboration being the oldest, written in early 2010 when we were both booked together at our first show in California, with the other three written in the past year or so."

Freddy Todd x Common Creation - Forest Temple is the second single release in a slow roll out style project of Freddy Todd's featuring some of the most forward thinking underground bass music magicians known and unknown to human kind, a forthcoming album dubbed "THE HI-TECH UNDERGROUND HEAVY GEAR". The first single release saw the light of life in the spring of 2023 in the form of "Sony Toprano",  a rolling bass slapper collaboration with Chef Boyarbeatz. This next single, "Forest Temple", is a massive collaboration with the Atlanta based Common Creation. As these singles slowly release, a few more singles may see the light of day before the entire project is ultimately unleashed, a behemoth 13-16 or so track full length album on the legendary Alpha Pup label, with each track featuring a different collaborative producer partner (some of FT's closer collaborator friends might appear on more than one song). Each track brings a different flavor from the community yet each is tied together with Freddy's signature sounds and current audial fascinations, mainly jazzy funky slamming bass music and 303 acid soaked breaks, although this next single goes down a more melodic soulful path with a continued heavy bass and sound design vibe. We hope you enjoy this next installment and brace yourselves for the rest of the THE HI-TECH UNDERGROUND HEAVY GEAR.

My new EP "Khrysos" literally means "gold". I originally was inspired by this Golden Eagle that would make this epic "cawww" and fly around our house in Oakland, CA, which you'll find traces of hidden in the art and on the album. So the Latin name for Golden Eagle is "Aquila chrysaëtos" and the ancient Greek derivative of "chrysaëtos" is "khrysos" and literally means "gold". Hearkening back to the theme brought in on my last record, "Golden Tremendous", I stuck with it and took the mythology further, tapping into the greed of man and its ultimate destructiveness. This is a literal translation from an ancient Greek lyric poet named "Pindar" who lived from c. 522 - c. 443 BCE: "Khrysos (Gold) is a child of Zeus; neither moth nor rust devour it; but the mind of man is devoured by this supreme possession." 

Hope you enjoy this album when it drops (October 2nd), as it is the most progressive piece of art I've done yet with the height of my production skills culminating to this point so far. Shout out GRiZ for having me on his imprint label as well as Joshua Mays from Oakland, CA on the INCREDIBLE album art and shout out Jasha Space Jesus and Aaron Bleep Bloop for joining me on this adventure and remixing one of the songs, both of which will appear on the record.
