The next full length from techno tastemakers Delsin is co-released by the man who made it, Morphosis aka Ra.H aka Rabih Beaini, on his own Morphine Records, as well as by close associate M>O>S. Entitled "What Have We Learned", the Lebanese-born producer’s album is due in April 2011.

Kicking off with the Redshape-channelling, misty, slo-techno march and buried percussive clatter of ‘Silent Screamer’, the album builds through a plethora of grainy landscapes. They’re sometimes dense with a dusty static, sometimes lit up by a female vocal or occasionally paired with a round house kick, but always sound rooted in some real (albeit far off and desolate) world.

Mokira - Time Track (2011)

Miles is one half of Demdike Stare and Pendle Coven and has recorded in the past under the aliases Millie and MLZ. After almost 15 years writing music, this is the first release Miles is putting out under his own name and marks a turning point of sorts in his production style, or rather, in its sequencing. 'Facets' brings together different ends of his production style, unifying elements of the House and Techno he’s most commonly released as MLZ together with the more broken production signatures usually reserved for Millie and the darkened tribalism of Demdike Stare. “Flawed” opens the set with a Linn loop from the archives, stretched and slowed down with an intoxicated aesthetic that’s somewhere between House and Dub, before “Lustre” re-configures source material originally keyed in by labelmate Andy Stott with a nice line in squashed percussion. ‘Primer’ on the flip extends from a Demdike Stare outtake and veers off into an analogue drum machine ruckus, before “On The fly” ends the set with a recording made straight to mixing desk from an array of mis-wired and malfunctioning drum boxes, contact microphones and samplers, over at his studio The Mill earlier this year.

Flawed

Tom Furse from The Horrors extrapolates the beats from the original and relocates them in a wide-eyed, sprawling dub epic akin to Screamadelica-era Primal Scream.

You can see Connan Mockasin in glorious live action this autumn, when he and his band embark on their own headline tour of the UK, playing dates across the country at the end of September. Having already toured with Warpaint in the summer, as well as scoring the first short film from acclaimed video director Kinga Burza, and collaborating with the idiosyncratic likes of Charlotte Gainsbourg and Sam Eastgate of Late of the Pier, it is certain that the eccentric pleasures of Connan Mockasin aren’t going to stay a cult secret for too much longer.

The record's eponymous track starts things off with a dimly-lit collection of sparse bleeps, indecipherable radio transmissions and a swooning choral moan, as gorgeous as it is timid. Ultimately, though, the track is nearly overcome by indulgence, as echoes pile up and the drums let loose in a series of pummeling, offbeat riffs. Next up is the beat-less "Den," a melancholy spread of soft, glitchy loops and synths. Some may consider its four-minute length more than enough for a techno vinyl, but others (such as this writer and perhaps the doomed lovers from the record's artwork) will wish that it stuck around for a little while longer.
After the fleeting romance of "Den," the flip takes us back into the darkness with "Indust," the most focused—and floor-ready—production on the record due to a sharp, syncopated kick pattern and discrete use of effects. Revolving around a shivering mass of sound and an increasingly frantic high-end, it's a strong conclusion to a fine debut for LADA.
