Metal Mantra

So I've been making songs that really need some vocals. Or the way they turn out makes me want to put some vocals in there. Usually these songs stay on 'private' if they even make it to Soundcloud. Or I put some vocal samples in there or I try to make them interesting in other ways. But not this time. I've had this microphone for a while and I keep wanting to use it. And even though I don't really sing, I listen to lots of music with vocals in there where if you would use the term 'singing' people might get the wrong idea. Well, I tried to do that here. Wrote some words. It turned out to be a motivational song.

Motivational Anthem

Heavy bass again, and then I found some trumpets. This song started out as a bassline that popped into my head while taking a bath, which is where things like this tend to happen quite a lot. I actually got it into my computer in a way that kindof resembled the idea. And then it sat there for a while. On rediscovery, it became the song I took to try out some drum ideas as well, and it just developed from there.  And then I found some trumpets.

Inarticulate Hero

We went to see Survive (http://survive.bandcamp.com) which was great and I bought their album, RR7349, which is great, too. It's probably where I got the inspiration for the original melody and sounds that started this song. It sat there for a while. I opened it a few times, I tried some stuff and closed it again without saving because it didn't go anywhere I liked. Until suddenly there was the second melody and the song took off in a direction I díd like, trying out heavy reverb on the kick and making a song without hihats, something I noticed 'missing' in Kavinsky's 'Nightcall' when watching Drive. Although I changed the sounds completely, Survive is definately in there. It was the first reference I got back from the first person I let it hear.

Poszukiwacz

After posting this track it hit me I really needed to change the bassline for this song a little bit, so I it took it down and reposted it. This track once again has all ingredients I, and hopefully my twentyeight followers as well, love so much. Lots of bass, nice bells, heavy synth pads, choirs, filtered noise and at the end of the climactic middle a loud thumping compressed and distorted kick stopping the exuberant high notes as if to say 'cut it out with this bombastic shit'. I mangled the mix until it started to crack, dirtying it up a little, making the melody scream and the bass crunch. In my efforts to get it pumping just the right way, I think I found the sweet spot, but I might look at this differently tomorrow, as I did yesterday, when I decided to change some stuff. Again. To stop myself from fiddling around with it too much and never getting it done I declare this song finished (for now). It's the first one done in my new appartment which has an excellent Morning View under certain weather conditions.

Morning View

I finished a new song! And a true epic piece of Frake melodical bombast it is. An uptempo collage of bleeps and guitar, trying out two great Audio Assault emulators they gave away almost for free. Thank you very much, the Grind Machine II and Dominator are great and much appreciated. Now, Marcus told me halfway through the song it sounded very happy. I agree. It has nothing to do with the name it got though. But it seems to fit :-D
