Joe Stevens' Peel Dream Magazine project has dazzled savvy listeners for the last several years with its tuneful yet hypnotic synthesis of post-punk, shoegaze, 60s pop and motorik Krautrocky grooves. Their most recent salvo of the album "Agitprop Alterna" and companion EP "Moral Panics" was one of the few bright spots of a pandemic-wracked 2021.

Now Joe is back with a more conceptual work with "Pad," drawing on his own journey in and out of Peel Dream, his experiences with soundtrack scoring, and his abiding love of Brian Wilson, Harry Nilsson and The High Llamas. "Pad" draws on influences as from baroque pop to bossa nova, country and mid-century orchestral, from Burt Bacharach-era 60s pop to first wave homemade post-punk. It's a unique sound that is at once relaxing and engaging and makes a most satisfying next step in the Peel Dream Magazine trajectory.

The Laughing Chimes is a musical project formed by teenage brothers Evan and Quinn Seurkamp based out of southeast Ohio. Living in a small, crumbling coal town on the brink of obscurity, Evan and Quinn wanted to bring to light some of their feelings and experiences from their time here. The project draws inspiration from American and British jangle pop from the 80s and 90s; establishing songs that blend enduring sounds with new melodies. The duo's 2020 album "In This Town" drew attention worldwide for its brilliantly timeless songs that could just as easily originated in Athens, GA or Dunedin, NZ as eastern Ohio.
 
The overwhelmingly positive reception of "In This Town" inspired the brothers to work on their next set of tunes. Evan wrote "Laurel Heights" upon seeing a sign in West Virginia with those words and from there the idea of an EP started to take shape.  More songs were written (some were discarded) and finally the brothers settled on the 6 tracks that comprise the "Zoo Avenue EP," including the first song written by Quinn.

From the deliciously paisley-tinged opener "Ice Cream Skies" through future anthem "Laurel Heights," the pastoral "Cats Go Car Watching" and the gorgeously melodic jangle of "Zoo Avenue" we can hear that Evan and Quinn have crafted a terrifically assured follow-up to "In This Town," one that sharpens their sound and broadens their musical palette while retaining all of the considerable charm of their debut. They're already working on their next record and have recently expanded to a trio and started playing live shows, so we're beyond excited to see where they go next.

South London DIY punk outfit adults today release the final single single “tfl has a lot to answer for” form their forthcoming debut album “for everything, always”, coming out on October 14th on Fika Recordings.

The new single things we achieve is “a reflection of drinking way too much in yr mid 20s, staying up too late, burning yrself out and how it impacts on yr relationships and mental health” it’s two and a half minutes of delightfully scrappy, catchy DIY pop that’s sure to appeal to fans of Los Campesinos, Martha and Johnny Foreigner.

adults are a noisy pop band desperately clinging on to the ghosts of 2009. 
Their songs are a silly, joyful, and occasionally sad, look back at the tail end of their 20s, a way to grapple with breakups, parties, alcohol and loneliness, and looking hopefully into the future.
They’ve released singles with Art Is Hard and For The Sakes Of Tapes, and self released an EP (The Weekend Was Always Almost Over), which was subsequently released on vinyl by Caballito records. They’re based in south London.

Following on from their second album (Divine Invasions), collaborations with Welsh poet Autumn Juvenile and Polish Artist Michal Iwanowski, plus an R.E.M cover, electronic post-rock duo Ritual Cloak are back with a brand new single.

‘Shell’ will be released on 23rd November across all digital platforms.
Shell is about being in a dream where you’re constantly searching for someone but never quite finding them. It’s an idea that’s been floating around for a few years and gone through a number of different versions before becoming what it is now.

Originally Shell was written for acoustic guitar and had a completely different feel. Dan remembers re-listening to Metals by Feist and being inspired by the dramatic intimacy of the album, leading to Shell being rewritten for piano. When the song was brought to the studio Sanders suggested taking the vocals outside of the usual comfort zone. The inspiration for this method of production was taken from Bon Iver and Mogwai, experimenting with vocoder and the deliberate use of autotune for the first time. As a result the song entered new musical territories, and served as a reminder to the band that there are no rules in what they do.

Shell

Aparna is a super dry comic who comes from Astoria Queens and makes jokes like, "Yeah, I'm surprised I'm a comedian too." I want her to get a man and have babies so we talk about that for most of the show which I'm sure will come across as sexist. Okay, if helping a woman start  family and create life is sexist then, I'm the head of the KKK. Oh wait, that's racism. What's the KKK of sexism, Playboy? They seem pretty chill.
