I wrote this song in either late 2017 or late 2018. When writing it, I had no idea where the story aspects came from. In June 2018, the news came that Anthony Bourdain had committed suicide. I had only discovered his programs a couple years before his death, and had become a huge fan. I asked myself - was I somehow thinking of Bourdain when I wrote the lyric? Not that there's any aspect that would speak to his eventual death. But something about his constant travel, the openness to other cultures, the concern for humanity. And both his love of lie and a certain world weariness. Anyway. I have no concrete answer. But I myself have a haunted feeling ever since when it comes to this song. One reason why it's taken so long for em to record it....
