Hakuna Kulala is excited to share with you this compilation of works and collaborations, result of a 2 year residency program titled "Afropollination" between artists from Mali, RDC, Rwanda, Uganda, South Africa, Tanzania and artists based in Germany, many of whom from African descent. The aim of this project was to create cross pollination effect between different artists, cultures and disciplines, fostering community, friendships, collaboration and inspiration and of course new music and art. As works continue to develop, here is a first compilation of works produced by the artists in residency.

AFROPOLLINATION is an initiative by Piranha Arts and Boutique Foundation / NYEGE NYEGE in collaboration with MS Stubnitz , Singeli Movement , Modaperf , Yoke Collective , COSMO Radio, Pussy Party, Morphine Studios, Festsaal Kreuzberg , CTM Festival and funded by the Fonds TURN2 of the Federal Cultural Foundation of Germany (Kulturstiftung des Bundes).

2024 Live Performance at Goethe Institut (Windhoek) as part of the research project Dancing Instruments. Kina is a ritual dance from northern Namibia, performed in relation to drums and drumming cultures of Ovakwanyama.

On the Dec. 2025 edition of the Art in Action interview series we hear from cultural worker Marina Mardas in Paris. Marina speaks about a major cultural publication project POSTMORTEM. This interview addresses the social, political and cultural context for a publication that aims to lift up alternative experiences in the European context and beyond. This publication illustrates through the artistic content a challenge to persisting western European claims around the reality of a common universal experience set. The project is described this way:

La bruma o brumación es un proceso de letargo en animales de sangre fría, caracterizado por la disminución de la respiración, ritmo cardiaco y metabolismo. En el caso de la rana silbadora (Eleutherodactylus nitidus) sucede cuando disminuye la humedad ambiental, por lo que estas ranas al terminar la temporada de lluvias, se entierran para conservar la humedad corporal. Dejan de cantar y se ocultan en el subsuelo, respirando lentamente por la piel.
Así, la bruma de una comunidad de ranas silbadoras es un susurro cutáneo y subterráneo que delimita el territorio habitado. Cuando las lluvias vuelven, las ranas emergen del largo entierro cantando, extendiendo su cuerpo en forma de vibraciones para re trazar el territorio, ahora en la superficie. El canto también es llamado para reproducirse, es reproducción, otra forma de extender el cuerpo hacia el mismo territorio.
El canto es vibración, respiración de la tierra.
