Decepcionada (2012)

This is a recording of the music I played on Dec 26th 2014 at Coda in Toronto for the 10th annual Old School Boxing Day party.

I dropped many of the tunes from the late 90s / early 2000s that, to me, were THE biggest house music anthems of the time. Of course, with only an hour set I could only squeeze in so many tunes (I might just have to revisit this series a few more times to completely showcase my influences).

I realize that many house music veterans have heard these tunes a million times, but others from the new generation will be listening with fresh ears for the first time. Turn it up. Enjoy. These are my roots...

Freedah Soul is based in Sweden and co-wrote Men From Mars, their first collaboration. She is best known for her 2014 collaboration with DJ Martin Eriksson - “Welcome to Malmo”.

Malmö based producer Martin Eriksson has had a eventful year with a number of successful releases. The previous ones, including commercial club hits Headstrong and Welcome to Malmö, got massive traction, generating nearly a million Spotify streams.

Now Eriksson shows his true colours with forthcoming 'Knowing' on HMWL presents. With the transformation into Northdans, Eriksson goes deeper and darker while keeping the momentum of a great club atmosphere. This mesmerising release carefully weaves together a beautiful hypnotic piano with dark deep beats and proves that Northdans is a name to be reckoned with.
