I also produced these tracks in Outland studios with Steve raff who recorded mixed and mastered these tracks. Freelance Is Taking a short Break to pursue Education and work commitments... We would like to thank all who have listened and supported us in the short time we were together... Joe Mccann is still working on some solo stuff as which has recently been posted, Dermot is still writing and performing in England, Charlie is playing drums for various bands and is still writing songs also... Bio:
Freelance is a 3 piece contemporary folk rock band from Omagh Co,Tyrone in Northern Ireland. Dermott is the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, Joe on lead guitar and backing vocals and Charlie on drums and percussion. The trio are old childhood friends who parted when they finished junior school and didn’t cross paths for almost 10years when their music brought them back together after finding each on Facebook..

Joe was travelling in Australia for 6 months when he got talking with Dermott over the internet, the time difference made it difficult for him to catch up with home, but Dermott has an unusual sleeping pattern and was learning to play the guitar so that’s what they usually ended up discussing as Joe had been playing guitar for 6 years.

When Joe returned from Australia they arranged a get together to play, they were playing covers from influences like CCR, Ray La Montagne, Foy Vance, Foo Fighters and Old Crow Medicine, when Dermott started singing they noticed a distinct tone to his voice and it really suited this style of music.

After a few weeks of playing together Joe and Dermott performed at a local open mic, they received a lot of positive feedback. They decided they needed drums or percussion to accompany them, they only had one person in mind, so they approached Charlie. Together they learned a collection of cover songs and started gigging together. They rehearsed at Joe’s, used Joe’s cousins PA system, and Joe drove them around as he is the only one with a van and a driving license. Joe started to refer to Charlie and Dermott as ‘freeloaders’ – which is where the inspiration for the band name came from FREELANCE.

As rehearsal’s continued they realised that the three of them made a great song writing team, Joe finds the melody, Charlie is very lyrical and Dermott is great at finding the hook and pulling the song together. They started to include some of their own material in gigs to see what response the songs would get. The feedback was great so the band decided to step into the recording studio.

Now approaching summer 2012 Freelance is set to release a 5 track EP entitled ‘Admit One’ and are looking forward to touring the UK and Ireland.
