Des Âmes Libres use a lot of technology but in a not predictable way. There is an important search of humanization of all the material used to build their songs. From analogue devices to virtual instruments, they try to leave their original print in every sound. Together with these tools, more conventional instruments like the guitar and the electric bass are used to create the dense, claustrophobic, heavy atmospheres that characterises their music.

On that basis, Des Âmes Libres have also carefully chosen their “remixers”. This is why, on this compilation that revisits a bunch of their songs, we can find a wide range of artists who get a new and difference vision out of the Des Âmes Libres’s field of action: from the “accessibility” of Fernando Lagreca or Brunetto to the noisy experimentation of Jose + or Tiger Menja Zebra.

“Remixes” includes a big catalogue of the most flourish artists in the Spanish electronic scene. Their goal: to enhance the already contagious Des Âmes Libres music. And they succeed. “Remixes” is more than a typical remixes compilation in itself. And the remixes themselves are much more than the habitual manufactured rehash product.

Desde aparatos analógicos de principios de los 70, hasta instrumentos virtuales actuales como el iPad, todos son tratados con la misma finalidad, que es la de conferir a cada sonido una personalidad propia. Esto sumado a instrumentos más convencionales, como guitarra y bajo eléctrico, son las herramientas que emplean para crear atmósferas claustrofóbicas, rabiosas, pesadas, eléctricas, densas, intensas, pero siempre contundentes. 

En consonancia a lo dicho, Des Âmes Libres ha cuidado muy mucho quién los remezcla. Por eso en este compendio de re-interpretaciones de sus temas han elegido todo tipo de artistas para que den una nueva visión, lo más poliédrica posible si aún cabe, de su campo de acción musical. Desde la ‘accesibilidad’ de Fernando Lagreca o Brunetto a la ‘experimentación’ de Jose + o Tiger Menja Zebra, Remixes es un catálogo de lo más florido de la escena electrónica de aquí, trabajando para darle aún más brío a las muchas posibilidades que demuestra la música contagiosa de Des Âmes Libres. 

Remixes es mucho más que el típico recopilatorio de remezclas encargadas a peso. Y las mismas son mucho más que los habituales productos manufacturados que salen normalmente de la cadena de montaje de refritos de turno. Ambos deseos se consiguen de largo y de ancho en este espectacular Remixes.

For the 15 years of Terminal M festivities it was a sure step to also get back into our catalogue and obviously listened to the older releases again. And it quickly came to our mind that Monika Kruses @ Voodooamt's classic 'Passengers' album from 2003 still is a true gem. So we reworked and remastered the whole album and asked close friends to select a track they wanted to remix. Oliver Huntemann, Alberto Ruiz and Skober immediately agreed and surprised us with their great new interpretations.

Suara has launched into 2016 on fighting form, with brand new material from both Dosem and Lane 8 thus far. Their fourth release of the year shows no signs of slowing down as they invite a London staple to make with his debut remix for Coyu’s cat loving crew. Ramiro Lopez has been no stranger to the label over the past five years, but the addition of Ejeca to Suara’s roster comes in the form of a serious asset to the Spanish heavyweight’s impending EP.

Lydmor & Bon Homme - the duo of Tomas Høffding and Jenny Rossander - are to release the third single from their exceptional debut LP.

‘Combining their powers like the Wonder Twins they have elevated the pop game with a touch of darkness, a smidgen of sass, and a whole lot of sex appeal’. (Nordic Spotlight) and now Tomas, (singer and bassist of Danish electronic pop trio WhoMade- Who) and Jenny (singer/ songwriter/ rising star) offer up ‘Missed Out On Disco’, a haunting piece of electronic pop presented here in four versions.

The original, which also appears on their album Seven Dreams of Fire, sees Lydmor and Bon Homme exchange vocals over a synth groove that echoes early 80s New Wave artists - a wistful, moving, modern pop classic.

Belgian electronic artist Pole Folder (Benoit Franquet) and Slovakia’s Just Hear team up on a killer remix which stretches the track out over seven and a half minutes and explores an even more emotional landscape. Jenny’s ethereal vocals are brought to the fore and swathes of melancholia are added through spacey pads and a stripped down, acid-tinged production.

Both the remix and original are also here in their instrumental versions, and draw attention to the amazing sound design and production Lydmor & Bon Homme are rightly celebrated for.

dubspeeka is a man who likes his basslines as thick and raw as his kicks. The Bristol based DJ-producer, elusive as he may be, is no stranger to the wide world of dance music — he’s one third of electronic music group Kosheen. You can go ahead and credit him with rocking your noughties rave nights. 

Fast forward to 2016 and dubspeeka is back at work, delighting our bodies and souls with deep, moody techno like this brilliant remix of André Winter’s classic ‘Track 10:30’ on Oliver Huntemann’s Senso Sounds. Fittingly, ‘Track 10:30’ has long been lauded as a defining moment in European techno music history and celebrates 20 years since its original release in 1996… an era that birthed dubspeeka’s Kosheen alias, among countless other gems.

John Vermont drops his second single “Sunday Afternoon” jamming with the hotly tipped infamous UK funky, footwork and future garage duo BSN Posse.

“Sunday Afternoon” is an exciting romance where the talented soul vocalist and songwriter joins forces with the no less gifted couple of beat-makers (keep in mind their highly acclaimed LP “Forever” released via Slime Recordings on 2015). The stars align perfectly on this track resulting of a solid sound recipe, a quirky joy with some of John’s most heart-on sleeve lyrics. 
You can’t deny the subtle hip-hop / trap influenced liquid beats of “Sunday Afternoon” underneath John’s hypnotising voice. A flotation experience that moves from the R&B territory gazing some recent classics like Deptford Goth or Chet Faker, and not so classics, Al Green or Curtis Mayfield to name a couple, into what seems to be a blissful mutation of jazz, electronic rhythms and addictive urban grooves.

This track is melodic, lyrical, and accessible. Beautiful and highly infectious, this one will be on repeat!

‘Son of a Thousand Sounds’, the long-awaited sophomore LP from AFFKT is just around the corner (release date: September 23). But before that happens, we’re very glad to introduce 'Flashcrash' to you, the final single before the album's released.  

This new song once again features the stunning vocals of Sutja Gutierrez, a skilled singer who also appears on ‘The Show’ (the first single taken from the album) and ‘Someone in the Sky’ (second single).

The icing of this freshly baked cake is thanks to the remixers: Renato Cohen and dubspeeka, both highly respected artists, complete the diversified and sophisticated electronic journey of the Spanish talent. The São Paulo-based Cohen gives us our Debut Transmission, which demonstrates once again his natural talent on the groove, utilising snippets of the original's dynamic vocal layered with scratchy percussion loops. Whilst, on the other hand, the shadowy Bristolian producer dubspeeka delivers yet another booming smart-techno soundscape. An authentic intoxicating dancefloor cut.

Valencia producer AFFKT treats Sincopat to a hotfire EP ahead of his second LP ‘Son of a Thousand Sounds’, which arrives September 23rd. Joining him on the tasty three tracker are Renato Cohen and dubspeeka, both taking on remix duties. Drumcode regular dubspeeka turns in a thunderous rework of 'FlashCrash' and you can hear it in full exclusive only via When We Dip today. The Bristol based artists brings the heat ahead of his very own LP 'skel058', which lands August 8th on Skeleton Recordings.

Freelastica‘s background had been always the music. Easy like that. Whether for maximum exposure in media or acting as a label and / or musical producers. Our listing of assignments could be quite long and boring (ask us for more details if necessary or check out our PORTFOLIO).

Freelastica is managed by Bruno Garca (Brunetto/BlandiBru). Since the late 90s one of the most outstanding electronic musician in Spain with 3 albums and a bunch of single releases and remixes. Not to mention his musical works for TV, Documentariers, Ads, Audiobooks, Music libraries, etc. As music journalist Bruno contributes (or contributed) since 2008 with some of the most important media in Spain such as Clubbingspain, Go!Mag, Clone, La Milk, Beatburguer, MedMag or Denso Mag.

Well known and well regarded also in the PR services thanks to his effective campaigns dealing always closely and directly with directors, editors, bloggers and journalists. Hundreds and hundreds of contacts (Spain, México, Chile…) treated equally as friends. Freelastica and Bruno can openly say that live music scene from the inside-out.
In 2006 Bruno began working in Decoder Muzique, later Phonomonkey. Actively for music labels such as BPitch Control, Kompakt, Hyperdub, Tectonic, Music Man, We Are Punks, Datapunk, HFN, Poker Flat, Echochord, Fullpupp, etc.

To name a few albums promoted: Trentemoller ”The Last Resort”, Modeselektor “Happy Birthday”, Burial “Untrue”,  Telefon Tel Aviv “Immolate Yourself”, Supermayer “Save the World”, Petar Dundov “Escapements”, Ellen Alien “Sool”, Detroit Grand Pubahs “Nuttin But Funk”, Pulshar “Brotherhood”, etc. Also Misch Marsch, I Love Techno, Fuse presents…, Boogie Bytes series have passed by his hands during this period.
