Speculation and anxiety fuelled much of her day-to-day; though little changed in her routine, the fear something would throw a spanner in the works continued to plague her mind. She was bound by ritual, in work and play, and anything that diverted from it seemed to throw her life into disarray. But that was no way to live; excitement came in spontaneity and surprise, knowing that everything could shift within a nanosecond...

After the success of their first SHOUTS compilation, which marked their five year anniversary as a label, Bradley Zero's Rhythm Section International are now stepping up for round two, bringing together artists from across the world and across the musical spectrum to showcase the sounds at the core of the imprint: past, present and future. On home turf, contributions come from the likes of James Massiah, Adam Pits and Yushh while across the pond to the West and the East, artists like Kareem Ali, Klein Zage and Soso Tharpa join the line up and, continuing their mutual relationship with Australia, they welcome POOKIE, Liluzu and more to the fold.

For his third outing on the label DMX Krew returns to Super Rhythm Trax with a six-tracker showcasing a wide repertoire of his musical madness chasing listeners, dancers and DJs from House to Techno while adding the game, his game, a slight Acid-note (from time to time), in short: Second Moon EP is a classic before it's out already. The B1, a revisit of The Wiggly Worm, comes in with a lush bass line topped with a sweet Acid-line and the "wiggly worm" vocal, which - in the course of the track - is enriched with various effects just like the bass- and synth-line of the track. Once again it proves to be true that it's not the high amount of elements, which make a track an outstanding one, but rather few ones combined doing the job just as DMX Krew does and did with this one. Chapeau!

The EP travels through 4 different interpretations of the familiar feeling of letting go of your emotions, and escaping within the dancefloor amongst like minded people in a unity unlike anything else.

Whether it be via the hypnotic, dubby intro track from AK-One, to the slow burning acid lines of Jeku, via the melancholically euphoric middle track of Mirage-Man, and ending with the final push in an emotional rollercoaster from Stuster; the main message is still applied.

Three stunning remixes from Pattern Recognition, the 2021 album (and UK album dance chart #1) from GLOK, the electronic alter ego of Andy Bell from shoegaze legends Ride. The remixes were completed by different artists at different times, but these kindred spirits have produced a trio of tracks that come together with a righteous symbiosis that Lord Sabre himself would have revelled in. 

First up, Sean Johnston (A Love from Outer Space) and Duncan Gray (Tici Taci), in their Hardway Bros meets Monkton Uptown guise, deliver a monstrous dub version of That Time of Night. While the original was a luxurious electro groover, this remix will make speaker stacks crumble to dust with its immense bassline and seismic effects, while Shiarra’s intoned vocals seem to come at you from another dimension entirely.

Next up, Richard Sen returns to GLOK remixing duty, tasked once again with turning one of Andy’s sprawling 20-minute album openers (he did the job on Dissident last time out) into a relatively concise number perfect for the nation’s dancefloors and rave tents. Richard never disappoints and he repeats the trick by taking Dirty Hugs to the Krautrock-disco, setting some of Andy’s delicious guitar licks over a propulsive, hypnotic groove. 

Last but by no means least Tom Sharkett, guitarist with Manchester synthpoppers WH Lung, has channeled the ALFOS chug into his throbbing re-version of album closer Invocation. Tom has recently been signed to Optimo Music and his remix would easily slot into one of Johnny and Keith’s epic, eclectic DJ sets.

Especial and Giraffi Dog return with 2nd part of their concept EPs of live / studio collaboration.  Digging deep they present Multiverse (Infinite 2), bringing their live showcase to vinyl – the completion of the duality of your innerspace, now unconstrained for outerspace.

The forced hiatus to their live experience hopefully over, the final EP comes in two parts, a real-time live recording, followed by more studio reimagining to close.  To start, 6th Chakra is pure Giraffi Dog.  Featuring Doom Chakra Tapes founder, DJ Deflektorschild, this rough and spacey opener is a breaks-mantra, the third eye open, Ajna flowing intuition, realisation and imagination. Recorded live at the Warning Festival 2022, promoters and label compadres offered the perfect platform to showcase the Dog’s energy as the meeting of MPCs, drum machines, synth, loops, FX and more morphs to present the mind-modulating King OTN as the party set peaks.  

Again cut as a continuous mix, Anagh lifts to DX Metero.  Floating, spinning, ethereal, before piano introduces Starfather, the skyward ending.  Hopeful, melancholy - bywords of Especial on it’s meandering journey.  A long time due but worth the wait, Giraffi Dog beamed live and direct, watch those stars.

The Object – The Way It Is (EOE Edit)

The month of March 2023 is such a significant and meaningful one for Dubblack, by cause of the second release of its young, yet incredibly promising catalogue, which will star Tagliabue and his three-track EP DUBBLACK002 (out both on vinyl and digital forms).
The record, which perfectly fits in the sonic context that the label and its founder GNMR are trying to form, superbly symbolises the essence of Dubblack with its deep, mysterious electronic attitude, thus making Tagliabue an ideal ambassador of this sound.

The Milanese DJ & producer -during the length of his EP- tells a story of masterly arranged, diverse and rhythmically solid tunes, giving evidence of the enormous care that he puts into the sound research underlying each and every one of his productions, and Dubblack002 makes no exception.

The opening track ‘Odissea’ lays the groundwork for the record to rise, with a cryptic intro which breaks out in a progressive detonation, referring to a late 90s/early 00s sound but interpreting the scenario with a modern, actual twist. ‘Baraka Trance’ keeps the standard high and, as the title suggests, offers the artist’s POV on the Trance matter with a high-tempo, neatly arranged beat and a slightly acid bass-line, both creating a constantly evolving eight minutes-long acoustic journey. ‘A Oltranza’ slows the pulse but doesn’t decrease the pressure with captivating rhythmics perfectly blended with an avant-garde harmonic section; a complex but never baroque arrangement that constantly holds the listener on the rope.

Серию кассетных вариаций открывает дебютный коллективный импрувмент высококлассных российских умельцев — VA Spazio Invasore Vol. 1.

Пленочный кастом под завязку укомплектован собирательными образами в духе своего времени. Воедино сходятся две стороны: день и ночь, свет и сумрак. Ритмичное углубленное вступление задает темп с оттенком спейс-диско, периодически подогревающегося ретроспективными индийскими песнопениями.

Более плотное продолжение ложится в колею модерна с воздушными синтезаторными добавками. Стоит первой стороне пересечь экватор, как тут же яркими вкраплениями начинают звучать эйсид-проекции, замешанные с итальянской классикой и немного причудливой свежестью нью-диско.

Ловкое поочередное комбинирование тех же элементов с добавлением хай-энерджи переключает на сторону B, демонстрируя смелый современный взгляд на продакшн. Следом проявляется окрас интенсивности с намеком на Депеш Мод и совет-вейв, сменяясь трансовым нетривиальным инди, а затем вновь уходя в загадочную мглу кислотности.

A series of cassette variations in the turmoil of the days is opened by a collective improvement of high-class Russian craftsmen — VA Spazio Invasore Vol. 1.  

The tape custom is fully equipped with collective images in the spirit of its time. Two sides come together: day and night, light and twilight. The rhythmic in-depth intro sets the pace with a touch of space disco, which is periodically warmed up by retrospective Indian chants.  A more dense continuation falls into the rut of modernity with airy synthesizer additives. As soon as the first side crosses the equator, acid projections mixed with Italian classics and a little whimsical freshness of new disco immediately begin to sound with bright inclusions.  The clever alternate combination of the same elements with the addition of high energy switches to the B side, demonstrating a bold modern look at production. Next, a color of intensity appears with a hint of Depeche Mod and Sovietwave, giving way to trance non-trivial indie dance, and then again going into the mysterious haze of acidity.  It's time for everyone to get their hands on a copy — the collection is already on the shelves!

Tongue-in-cheek as usual, belleter Niklas Wandt melts up pianos, acid lines and bass heavy breaks as raw material for Die Glocke (The Bell). When the hunchback pours the lead of three decades of rave culture onto your lost souls, it’s too late for shelter.
Fantastic Twins evaporates not just the bell but the whole bell tower into particles of peak time madness for the mental cases.
On the flip Bodyzeit heats up on an even more old schoolish tip with breaks that definitely win the bumper car dancefloor. Very sorry for the spilt drinks, thrown fags, popped pills, ripped shirts and funny faces trying to sing along these german vocoder phrases. Borusiade doing some serious bodywork, shifting gears down in her lowrider manner, modding this burner into a dreamish but deep wee-hour masterride.

PREMIERE : Niklas Wandt - Die Glocke (Fantastic Twins Remix)

Following the partnership between Altrimenti and Quindi for a suite of remixes of Cabaret du Ciel, the two Italian labels collaborate once again to explore three vivid versions of tracks from Woo’s exquisite album "Paradise In Pimlico". 
The verdant, delicate musicality of Woo’s original material offers an abundance of riches for remixers, and the results are true to Altrimenti’s stated purpose to explore and experiment in the fusion of different approaches to electronic music.
On the A side, Joseph Tagliabue offers up a snaking, psychedelically charged
dancefloor vision of ‘Cadenza d’Innocenza’. Milan-based Tagliabue has developed a potent sonic signature across releases for labels like Invisible Inc. and Sound Metaphors before starting his own Blue Sea Studio as an outlet for his expanding work into the field of contemporary soundtracks. That cinematic sensibility comes through in waves on this subtly trance-licked epic - a soaring set piece for the most dramatic of party situations.
On the B side, Leeway opens proceedings with his remix of ‘Even More Notes’. As the founder of Wain Records and the Scram club night, the London-based producer is fostering a culture of leftfield dance music with an organic sensibility. On his interpretation of Woo, he offers up a more experimental, dub-informed strain of 4/4 club rhythms.
Completing the set, Other Lands & Linkwood join forces for their approach to ‘Gold Star’. Other Lands is also known as Fudge Fingas, and alongside Linkwood he helped shape the warm, deeply rooted house sound of seminal label Firecracker Recordings. The duo’s affinity for soulful musicianship and the disco roots of house music comes through in this spiralling, hazy rendition perfectly pitched at moments when a softer, more spiritual approach is needed without losing the guidance of an insistent groove.
Once again the overarching theme on this collection of remixes remains quality - a pursuit of meaningful expression, originality and open-hearted musicality. From the source material to the resulting remixes, the pursuit was a successful one
