Freestylers have their fingers on the pulse with this fresh rerub of Wankelmut & Emma Louise’s infectious single ‘My Head Is A Jungle.’  The track was heavily supported by BBC R1’s own Annie Mac and dubbed Pete Tong’s ‘Essential New Tune’ of 2014 and it’s continued to be a club favourite all Summer.   

Showcasing their versatility as producers, and knowledge of real club music, they deliver a groove laden remix reminiscent of an early 90s club classic but with a modern day twist that would sound right on the dance floors of Ibiza.

In the current sea of forgettable pop stars, few have got what it takes to show that they’re a cut above the rest. Exciting new talent PowerDress, however, has enough pedigree, talent and charisma to mark her out as one of the most exciting upcoming talents in the game. Courted for songs by the likes of Lana Del Rey and coming across like a one-woman version of Hurts, she’s seriously hot property.

Also known as Penny F, her impressive song-writing credits include Del Rey’s stunning 'National Anthem', Rui Da Silva’s 'New Lover' (a Pete Tong Essential New Tune, no less) and songs for acts like the legendary Arthur Baker. A former Brit School student with a degree in Pop Music Vocals from the Academy of Contemporary Music, she’s finally taking her turn to step into the spotlight and show what she is capable of. Based in London, her voice packs a serious punch, full of vigour and emotion yet never strained or unnecessarily over-the-top.

PowerDress' debut single 'Torture', produced by Elrose, is an incredibly catchy slice of sun-drenched pop-dance, dripping with bright, feel-good synths and hard-grooving bass that perfectly compliment her powerful and gracefully controlled vocals. Taking flavours from ‘80s pop and ‘90s dance and fusing them into a slick contemporary package, it’s one of the most impressive debuts of the year and an enticing taste of her forthcoming album (due for release in 2015).

The Freestylers: 28 Years of Bass, Beats & Global Anthems

With a career spanning nearly three decades, the Freestylers—Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor—have made their mark on the electronic dance music scene. From playing the world’s biggest festivals and clubs to appearing on Top of the Pops, they’ve remained at the forefront of the genre without ever standing still.

Origins & Breakthrough

Aston Harvey began as an engineer and producer, working with Rebel MC / Congo Natty and co-producing the jungle classic Spiritual Aura with DJ Rap. Matt Cantor, meanwhile, was part of Strike, co-producing the dance hit U Sure Do. The two met at Fresh Records, bonding over their love of hip-hop, electro, and breakbeats, leading to the birth of the Freestylers.

Their debut album brought them international success, with hits like B-Boy Stance and Ruffneck landing in the UK, Dutch, and German Top 20. A major US record deal followed, leading to a spot on Lenny Kravitz’s American Woman tour and a legendary Glastonbury 1999 performance.

Global Hits & Reinvention

Over the years, they’ve released a string of anthems, from Push Up, a #1 hit in Australia, Holland, and Belgium, to Cracks, which became a dubstep classic with 80+ million streams. They’ve also collaborated with Pendulum and held festival residencies worldwide.

In 2025, they’re set to release their seventh studio album, Enter the Sound—a collaboration with Dub Pistols featuring reggae legends like General Levy and Tippa Irie. With a packed schedule of festivals, remixes, and new music, the Freestylers are still going strong. In the words of LL Cool J: “Don’t call it a comeback—they’ve been here for years!”
