Capleton-Prophet rides again-JUNGLE RMX- Inkalink records

Pressure Point updates the Freestylers' sound for 2002. As the follow-up to the band's influential debut We Rock Hard, which sold more than 150,000 copies in the U.S. alone and saw the group repeatedly tour the States with a 10-piece band, Pressure Point successfully mines two decades of hip-hop and dance music for hip-shaking rhythms and deep, emotion-baring soul. "We didn't want to make a We Rock Hard Pt. 2," says Aston. "Being DJ/producers we're influenced by the music that's happening, especially with dance music because it moves so quickly in England. We wanted to do something in our own distinct style so we used influences that we had hints of on the first album but made it harder and clubbier, and used the [early rave] influences from 1989-91."

Pressure Point's cohesive cross-genre pollination indeed makes it one of the year's best dance albums. "Get Down Massive" kicks in with two-step rhythms and hyper-speed breaks as Navigator's chatty vocals get the party started right. Reminiscent of Shaggy and Fatboy Slim hanging together on the Ibiza beach, "Weekend Song," the album's first single, is funky pop gone dancehall courtesy of Tenor Fly. "Now Is the Time"'s deep electro and potent sub-bass further demonstrates the Freestylers' versatility--deep, party-rockin', soulful and pop savvy at once. The energetic, "Blowin Ya Brainz," with its old-school rave vibe and block-rockin' beats, gives Prodigy a run for its money. And the addition of vocalists Valerie M (on the soulful groover "Calling") and Petra Jean Philipson (on the soul-rock "Told You So") complement the album's all-over-the-map musical panache. Producer/singer Spanna Banner also brings more dancehall flavor to the mix, toasting on "Signs," the album's reggae finale.

Tengo el enorme placer de compartir con todos vosotros la última sesión de HARDCORE que hice. Un estilo que desde los 90's siempre me ha acompañado a lo largo de toda mi carrera y que a día de hoy sigue tan fuerte o más que hace años. Casi 60 minutos de infarto y de una intensidad digna de mi. The Freestylers: 28 Years of Bass, Beats & Global Anthems

With a career spanning nearly three decades, the Freestylers—Aston Harvey and Matt Cantor—have made their mark on the electronic dance music scene. From playing the world’s biggest festivals and clubs to appearing on Top of the Pops, they’ve remained at the forefront of the genre without ever standing still.

Origins & Breakthrough

Aston Harvey began as an engineer and producer, working with Rebel MC / Congo Natty and co-producing the jungle classic Spiritual Aura with DJ Rap. Matt Cantor, meanwhile, was part of Strike, co-producing the dance hit U Sure Do. The two met at Fresh Records, bonding over their love of hip-hop, electro, and breakbeats, leading to the birth of the Freestylers.

Their debut album brought them international success, with hits like B-Boy Stance and Ruffneck landing in the UK, Dutch, and German Top 20. A major US record deal followed, leading to a spot on Lenny Kravitz’s American Woman tour and a legendary Glastonbury 1999 performance.

Global Hits & Reinvention

Over the years, they’ve released a string of anthems, from Push Up, a #1 hit in Australia, Holland, and Belgium, to Cracks, which became a dubstep classic with 80+ million streams. They’ve also collaborated with Pendulum and held festival residencies worldwide.

In 2025, they’re set to release their seventh studio album, Enter the Sound—a collaboration with Dub Pistols featuring reggae legends like General Levy and Tippa Irie. With a packed schedule of festivals, remixes, and new music, the Freestylers are still going strong. In the words of LL Cool J: “Don’t call it a comeback—they’ve been here for years!”
