I had an idea for a monthly mix that would feature some of the deeper music that I love but do not get to play out as much. The name comes from surfing of course. While most people fear the Undercurrent and are taught to avoid it, we surfers use it to get back out in the lineup for the next wave.

Undercurrent

This is the first in a new series called Undercurrent featuring some deeper, melodic vibes. This was recorded Live at QC Lounge in Charlotte, NC on May 05, 2022. I just returned from Desert Hearts fest and finally decided to start this project that has been on the back burner for some time. I plan to do at least one Undercurrent per month.

Got to do a little b2b with the amazing Inlighten at Dirtybird CampInn at our Renegade Stage. We played through the sunrise and it was Deep, Tribal, Funky and so much fun! We were joined at the end by Gabe Fuerte, half of Ma Duro.

The meaning of Free Surf: growing up as a competitive surfer, sometimes surfing was stressful. Battling for waves, hoping the judges scored you well, etc. But then, you would go for a free surf! No judges, no concerns, just you and the waves! Free to ride the wave any way you want. 

I imagine music is the closest any non-surfer can get to the feeling surfers call "Stoke." When you are on the dance floor and everyone is interpreting the sound waves with their own dance. No worries of being judged, just moving to their own rhythm.
