Horixon are back on Eskimo with ‘Hold It Like I Own It’, a seductive vocal track complete with remixes from This Soft Machine and Hermigervill. ‘Hold It Like I Own It’ is an indelible and radiant record featuring the flawless vocals of Maya and co-written with Karin Park. The second original track, ‘Burnt Orange’ is a slick piano driven club track, shadowy with melancholic synths. This Soft Machine and Hermigervill are on remix duty and an extended mix completes the package. This Soft Machine is infamous for his work with Nicolas Jaar’s Other People while Hermigervill is one of the backbones of the Icelandic music scene, providing a rework reminiscent of the early days of Ewan Pearson.

Belgium’s music scene has few cornerstones. R&S set a first in the 80s, Soulwax came in the 90s and Eskimo emerged in the early 00s, its evolution since more colourful than all of them combined. Jerry Bouthier’s label Continental records welcomes Mexico’s Bluehost to its continuously expanding international roster. Building a body of releases where love for songs with character and dancefloor principles cohabit on dj-friendly EPs crafted by authentic artists, the colorful, pop-tinged digital imprint springs back into action with ‘We Need You’ by Bluehost, a trio hailing from Mexico City which aims at combining indie moods and club vibes in one personal inspired Latin spell.

When DJ Alex González was introduced to Azzim Susano who was singing in a new-wave band at the time, the two 24 year olds into synth-pop and European sounds hit it off immediately and decided to form Bluehost. Cruz Antonio on drums soon completed the line-up. The band's name stems from its wish to combine the melancholy of Blue Monday, the third Monday of January believed to be the most depressing day of the year (almost certainly also a nod at New Order's electrodisco classic), to their love of hosting parties and making people dance.

With a funky rhythm guitar that would make Nile proud, quirky synths a-gogo, electro beats to almost breakdance to and a male vocal that’s as infectious as heartfelt to top the lot, ‘We Need You’ strikes a chord. These boys sure cultivate a sentiment of their own, injecting warm, impassioned, Hispanic touch and cool dance moves to their beloved indie-pop.

In the remix seat Pallace, the Frenchie who’s co-produced Zimmer's lately, opts for a driving house makeover, stripping down vocals and unleashing some proper feelgood Hammond chords and one of the catchiest SH101 basslines you’ll hear this summer. Next Sweden's Copycat, the analog lord renowned for revamping the 80s with style and skilled production techniques, turns out a piano-led balearic anthem that’ll have you throw your hands in the air before you know it. To conclude the EP, Bluehost provide their own dub remix which takes ‘We Need You’ one step closer to Manchester’s Haçienda and its italo-house heaven.

Adolescence is marked by many memorable moments: your first day of junior high, your first locker, your first kiss. We'll always remember our oldest brother TJ playing in the high school pit orchestra. Why, you ask? It’s where we first heard the words, "Call it bad, call it funny, but it's better than even money, that the guy's only doing it for some doll!" As kids, we didn’t realize how true to life a musical like Guys and Dolls could be. Now--many years and pit orchestra experiences later--we know just what Ol' Blue Eyes meant when he sang it on the big screen: We do it for the girls!

Our new single, ‘Girls’ is a celebration. And in our mind, there's no better way to celebrate the fairer sex than by bringing on feminist pop icon JD Samson (MEN/Le Tigre) while throwing our signature Next Jack Swing sound into the mix--think New Jack but with heavier beats and funkier bass lines. Known for its “delightfully bizarre” (Vice) spin on indie-dance, French Horn Rebellion (FHR) is a music project that combines dance-punk, French touch, and electro with classic songwriting sensibilities.  It was co-founded by Robert and his brother David Perlick-Molinari in 2007.  Both currently work at David’s production studio in Williamsburg Brooklyn, YouTooCanWoo, and curate a new indie disco and house record label, @toucansounds

In 2007, Robert was a young classical horn player in the Chicago area making beats on his laptop, and throwing house parties.  Finding more joy in electronic/dance music than in the classics, he with the help of his brother David (who had recently produced MGMT’s Time to Pretend EP) created FHR and the duo released their first single together, ‘Up All Night.’

Soon after, Robert booked a 30-show national tour (mostly using Myspace) from Brooklyn to El Paso, playing every DIY electro party along the way.  From the friends they made that year, FHR was invited to play SXSW, sparking interest from the dance scenes of London and Paris to Seoul and Tokyo.  As a poster child of Brooklyn eclecticism, they received steady radio play on BBC’s Radio 1 and event performances with Les Inrocks and Kitsuné Maison.  In two years, the brothers went from playing the punk-venue basement at Lit Lounge in Manhattan, to the basement of the Louvre in Paris for the show of famed fashion legend Jean Charles de Castelbajac.

Over the last 10 years FHR has performed as a DJ as well as a live band across 5 continents, while collaborating on stage and in the studio with some of the most influential music artists of our time including official remixes for Beyoncé, Two Door Cinema Club, Sia, OMD and tours with Of Montreal, Cut Copy, Yelle, Hot Chip, SebastiAn as well as original studio collaborations with St. Lucia, Autograf, Jody Watley, The Knocks and many more. 

They have received praise from some of the world's leading media outlets including The New York Times, Billboard and The Huffington Post.  LA Weekly said, “We wish America had a million bands like this,” while in the UK,The Guardian regarded FHR's music as “killer dance-pop.”

Its like funk, folk, reggae, psychadelic rock, the blues, hard rock, and acid jazz 'got together,' and decided to keep the baby.
