This song is dedicated to the life and legacy of Aaron John Sullivan 4/11/1991-7/22/2009. 
Aaron was down to earth, brave, friendly, inclusive, smart and capable. He had all of his peers’ respect yet he was never too good for anyone. He stood up for people and both thought and lived freely. 
Aaron was killed by gun violence when he was 18 years old. A high school beef gone awry - a misunderstanding in an altercation between teenagers and one of them murdered the other with an assault rifle. One teenager lost his life and the other went to prison for 20 years...
Aaron and I grew up two walks away from each other and became friends as little kids, running around the neighborhood together throughout elementary school. He was consistently outside and adventurous. I remember riding around the city with him in his Chevy Caprice from sunset to sunrise on the Sunday before he was murdered that Wednesday - enjoying the best of Seattle summer with an old friend. I can clearly remember freestyling outside of his mom's house that night. In the freestyle I said "We're in the city and the drama is irrelevant/ Riding in the Chevy and I'm here with Aaron Sullivan". A friend who was with us at the moment said that didn't even rhyme, but Aaron was quick to defend my line haha - this little example speaks to how he defended and looked out for people. He had a big heart.
This song is just a drop in the ocean, a glimmer of the light that Aaron shared with all of us. A reminder to his family that his light is still with us. This song is also about bringing awareness to unnecessary gun violence.  
He would be doing big things today and we miss him, yet his spirit is still with us. He was a good person whose life was taken too soon. Thank you Aaron for inspiring others to be both brave and kind.
