In honor of Black History Month & the Season of Love, French Street Gumbo brings you "Family Love Tour" ~ the official debut of rapper/lyricist Z-Ball 2100 in this hook-heavy, holiday-tinged tribute to all things love & family.

In the Winter of 2016/17 MC/lyricist Z-Ball 2100 paid us a visit to Gumbo headquarters in Germantown Philly where we crafted a 5-track EP together amid feasting and festivusing. 

Finally in 2024, the auspicious ten-year anniversary of the Gumbo's founding, the fruits of this epic collaboration are finally set to be shared with the World at last. We start with the first single that shares the title of the larger EP - the Family Love Tour - in an upbeat, hook-driven and holiday tinged tribute to all things family & love. Keep those eyes and ears peeled for more Gumbo coming in the year ahead, and welcome Z-Ball 2100 to the mic!!!

{Backstory}

We've been sitting on this track for five years.
.
This track never made it to the public eye in all that time owing to a trifecta of internal band disputes, ego, and perfection syndrome. In 2015 we were "a band". In 2020 French Street Gumbo is more like a "artist/producer collective" of sorts featuring various guest artists and collaborations...and more music IS on the way. 
.
In any case, it's #blackouttuesday and more important than any of that is getting the message of Self Reflection out to the world RIGHT NOW.

The genesis of this song began in Late Summer of 2014 after the death of Michael Brown and the subsequent uprisings in Ferguson, Missouri and across the nation. At that moment the #blacklivesmatter movement was just beginning to gain real momentum with the issues of systemic racism, oppression, and the unjust murdering of black and brown bodies coming to the fore in the national dialogue. Fast forward to 2020 and two weeks after the death of George Floyd, we have witnessed protests in major cities across the World calling for a new paradigm of justice and equality to emerge. 
The message of Self Reflection has come full-circle in a deep and profound way; the urgency of the times demanded its sharing with the World, NOW, with perhaps a final edition coming later this year. As this song was never formally "finished" up to radio-ready quality, it is hence for now an exclusively underground release.

FSG has no intention at this time to distribute to official digital stores or streaming platforms. This is out of respect to quality and the say of all members. 
there is no intention to monetize or otherwise capitalize on this specific release.

This song is simply for the people rising up all over the World right now to demand Justice and to collectively Seek a better way. That way will come through See Reflection and much needed work on all of our parts. Because:
