The 7th Frenzy chapter is upon us and we are delighted to present a long-running project with no other than UK mastermind Hurdslenk. Years ago he took part in the Frenzy contest - having us hopelessly falling in love with his driving trademark sound. Growing up in the 00s techno era, he subtly blends old-school elements with a contemporary vision in an unrivalled way, resulting in releases on labels such as Freddy K’s KEY. We’re proud to finally see ‘Twenty Cycles’ EP delivered, a 6-track EP including two remixes by UK-born and raised Bailey Ibbs and Frenzy co-founder Isaiah.

‘Pull Effect’ opens the realm of the A-side and pays respect to its name. You’re drawn into a scenery of deep kicks, drums, and mental vocals. Followed by ‘Mayhem’, a deep and pensive groover that slowly builds up to an echo chamber of dark pads and gentle dub accents. Bailey Ibbs kicks in the door with a remix on the verge of the industrial and the forceful. The B-side embarks on a ride into the past with ‘Warriors’, where compressed dub patterns and a haunting speech set the stage for a mind-altering body workout. Before you know it, ‘Onem’ kicks in with a tension release and sweaty groove while Isaiah flips the coin on this track and transforms it into an uplifting bouncy bass workout.

For Frenzy’s third release, and the first solo release, the Uruguay-based William Arist is introducing us to his world of ‘tribal techno’. Hailing from the city of Montevideo, this Southern- American-born artist already is a talent to watch overseas. Through their like-minded vision of electronic music, William bonded strongly with our Amsterdam-based Frenzy crew over the last couple of years. This warm connection evolved into Frenzy 03 - showcasing pure dance floor eclecticism that only William can deliver, including two remixes by no other than VIL and rising star Kenji Hina aka Alarico.

The A side instantly kicks off at full good vibe-throttle with two productions that reminisce about those iconic Love Parade moments during the very first days of rave culture. Balancing on the edge of house and techno, ‘Chaka Chaka’ loops the listener into a straight sense of movement. With rhythmic drums and uplifting vocals, ‘Days’ feels like stepping into an after hour dance-floor at the beach while the morning sun rises through the exotic vegetation.

On the B side, William leans towards a more hypnotic sound. With a great tempo and a dark yet subtle mood, ‘Tero’ sets the tone for those murky clubbing moments where the boundaries dissolve and bodies merge. Slowly climbing out of the deep, ‘Gultural’ stays on the same energy level while adding dubby hints and a taste of freshness.

To top it off, the release is provided with two remixes that leave no room for interpretation. Portuguese producer VIL turned ‘Chaka Chaka’ into a true peak-hour beast while Italian multi- talent Alarico shows his versatile skill set with a speedy house remix of ‘Gultural’ under his Kenji Hina alias.

This born-to-be gearhead from the outskirts of Amsterdam began experimenting with electronic music as a youngster. Immersing himself in a variety of genres throughout his early years, he decided to take the next step and provide an output for his vision on techno as ‘Levzon’. For our next Frenzy adventure, he is going all out for the first time, profiling his sound through a 4-track heavy-hitting EP with old-school-induced cuts and loopy basslines, including two remixes by like-minded associates.  

Imagine an era where speed has no limit and the night knows no dawn. That’s about the atmosphere ‘Mambata’ is creating at the start of the A-side. Followed by drum-led ‘Bang the Drums’, Levzon continues to ride the wave of heat, pressure, and movement. The adventure doesn’t end here yet: talent on the rise Phil Berg is providing a perfectly executed dubby remix of ‘Bang The Drums’ Enter the B-side where a body-heavy peak time experience is awaiting you with ‘Baraa’. A true weapon on the dancefloor. At the end of his story, Levzon leaves us with the beautifully composed ‘Baila’, casting a subtle rhythm of basslines with funk-induced vocals within a more subtle tempo. To close off the record in style, Ruiz OSC1’ provides a remix of ‘Baila’ - throwing her 90s rave techniques into the battle.

Through this second VA release, Frenzy seeks to extend its exploration of the ‘now’ and the ‘then’ with a double vinyl release with no less than 12 tracks representing their trademark sound. The vibey A-side starts with a bang by the dynamic Swiss/Italian duo Funk Assault (Chlär & Alarico) followed by uplifting, lighthearted productions by Amsterdam’s finest Undivulged and Lobster. On the B-side, local talent Levzon kicks it off with a playful melody-led groover, while Nicolas Vogler gets into the rhythmic drums and Ruiz OSC1 delivers an aquatic dub workout. 

Heavyweight TWR72 introduces the C-side in full effect with a hypnotic, driving tension builder, followed by a wonky looped-out production by Hemka. Insolate is the perfect final addition to this side with a steady minimalist puncher for the in-between energy shifts. The D-side takes off at stellar speed with Cravo, raising the peak hour pressure. Jannik Abfalg channels the energy to more bright scenery as ANNĒ completes the record in style with a vocal-induced trip through early morning dancefloor freshness.

The Miller - Complied [FRNZYREC005]

For Frenzy’s 5th installment, we’ll take the fusion of the past and the present even further. We present you a 6-track EP by Swedish DJ and producer ‘The Miller’, who was amongst the Nordic wave of early 2000s techno pioneers like Cari Lekebusch, Adam Beyer, and Joel Mull. Coming from an era where rave and nightlife escapism were blooming, The Miller possesses a vast backlog of old-school productions that embody the true Frenzy sound. We invited him to compile an EP with old and new material, accompanied by remixes from the up-and-coming generation to truly intertwine generations of dancefloor exquisiteness. Allow yourself to surpass the linear alignment of time within the next collision of decades on Frenzy 005. It’s time to dance.

Starting out slow but steady on the A side, ‘Kartong’ gradually builds up the pressure with a playful mix of reversed phrases and thoughtful alignment of pitch levels. On the flip side, we go back to the old days as ‘Complied’ grabs hold of hips and minds with catchy repetition and a straightforward bassline. The Miller got us spellbound as ‘Gate’ follows up with a stripped-down steamy groover. To end the journey in full force, a powerful remix of Gate by the Greek-based ANNĒ is delivered, converting stripped down into the contrary for those big-room dancefloor moments.

We're delighted to present you the 4th podcast of our yearly summer series, with Mareena in the mix for this week!

Mareena is an artist on the rise, but present in the techno scene for a long time! Musically spoken, her roots branch deep into the spirit and sound of dub techno and pre and early 2000s techno productions. Adding to this foundation, Mareena has developed a statement sound over the years characterized by rhythmic, lively, and non-linear beats that create an unrelenting flow of energy on the dancefloor. This foundation has earned a long-standing residency (since 2012) in the techno institution Tresor, which stands for a similar ethos. Authentic, but always evolving.

Her ability to include hard and elegant elements into her vinyl-oriented sets has led her to play at multiple venues and parties across the globe such as Berghain, Faust (Seoul) and our very own Frenzy editions, where she will be part of again on September 14!

Amanda Mussi is a São Paulo-born DJ, producer, and curator, known for blending techno, acid, breaks, and house into fresh, dynamic sets. A key figure in the queer underground scene, Amanda ran the influential Dûsk party for five years and is now a resident at top Brazilian events like Mamba Negra, Dando, and Kode. 

In the past four years, Amanda has released music on labels such as LPZ, Massa Records, and The Lady Machine’s Unterwegs, while also co-founding Macro Hits, with a monthly residency on The Lot Radio in NYC. Amanda also heads .alt bookings, a collective promoting cultural exchange in South America’s underground scene, fostering collaborations with artists worldwide.
