Last night's SMD listeners wanted it, so here we go - a full symphonic medley of tunes from the second game in the Jak and Daxter series!

When I got started on Youtube, I often uploaded symphonic covers of games I personally enjoyed, getting inspired by the wonderful arrangements done for Video Games Live.  The only issue is, I grew to dislike them more over time because it's not at all a style strong enough to put me on the map AND the sound patches I had came from my PSR keyboard - not at all ideal!

However, when looking back over my old arrangements, the Jak II medley that I uploaded on YT back in 2008-ish stood out mostly due to the little expansions I ended up giving to it, not to mention it felt as if we were telling a story from Jak's 2-year imprisonment through to the final resolution of the city's conflicts.

And then came the last bit of inspiration - April Fool's Day happening on a Friday this year.  I wanted to fit in some Jak within the PlayStation-themed setlist I had on that week's SEGA Mixer Drive (briefly re-named DONNIE Mixer Drive for that day) and over the space of a few days, I finally took the old MIDI project file and re-built the 'synthetic orchestra' from the ground up.  And that's what we got!

So yeah.  Happy belated April Fool's Day, and enjoy the arrangement again! x)

Jak II Medley - Haven in Harmony (2016 Re-Master)

With the reveal for the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy at the PS Experience this past weekend, now looks like a good time to release something that's been on my back-burner for a while!

It's an arrangement of the Warp Room theme from Crash 2, as originally composed by Josh Mancell.  You'd hear it so many times when going back and forth through all the levels that it feels both calming and adventurous at the same time - a feel I wanted to nail when putting it together!
