Gold Panda - Reprise (MoonDoctoR Remix)

Nangdo's quaint flashes of footwork brilliance definitely deserve more earlobes. Boiler Room remembers his early dabbles with LA now-powerhouse, Soulection, that unlocked a higher-tempo pathway that only LAKIM could navigate as well. For the past few years, his Soundcloud his been a ripe sowing ground for tunes that mostly tick above 140BPM; stylistically unique, but still authentically bowing at the juke altar.

It wasn't going to be long before TAR head honcho and Brainfeeder disciple, PBDY, caught wind. High On Clouds, Nangdo's first outing on the enviably good imprint is heavy artillery. The Berlin producer doesn't hold back over the six tracks, regularly pasting together skittering hi-hats and well-chosen sample fragments atop a feverishly paced backdrop.

Track #3 is the clear standout here though. Angelic choir snippets, and pads that make you feel high af anyways. High on clouds, indeed.

I'm not timely with this mix. It is long after the rap's been spit, yet how can you not try to wrestle with the words and see if they might be purposed to today? Speed and plosives here. Mid deranged kicks and distorted toms. Lots of little moments as I try to better my craft.

Fun fact. In high school I was in a jazz quartet called "Tres Gatos" (a name that never made sense) with Terrace Martin who kept playing incredible saxophone and features all over's Kendrick's albums. Hearing his output over the years has been an inspiration.
