Post Coal Prom Queen return with a beautiful and avant-garde new single - Protomartyr. The song has been a feature in the band's set since 2023 and has seen an incredible reception during their shows in the UK, Europe, and North America. Protomartyr sees the duo turn their gaze away from the heavens and look towards the surreal world of the microscopic - exploring ideas of ancient gods and the origins of life, but with the band's characteristic human-centric approach. It is the first single from PCPQ since the success of their expansive and operatic album Music for First Contact.

Through glitchy beats and a return to a guitar-driven sound, Protomartyr pivots seamlessly from monastic chants to hauntological riffs to squalling noise. Sonically, it's a microcosm of the band's career to date - experimental, ambitious, and deeply human.

The track will be accompanied by a self-produced music video and a series of remixes from some of the most talent producers in and around Scotland. It will be followed by an EP of new material in the latter half of 2024.

‘Fireworks’ is the debut single from dreamy indie pop duo ‘Shapes Like People’. Kat’s sultry vocals and Carl’s reverb soaked guitars combine in this first taster of their forthcoming album, swiftly nearing completion. Elements of dream, chamber, jangle and folk all seamlessly amalgamate across the album, and we’re already desperate to hear the rest of them. Carl’s musical chops across multiple genres are self-evident - the man behind The Shop Window/Jangleshop Records can certainly write a tune, and the lineup of singles ahead will certainly whet the appetite for more.

Our first single ‘FAT MAN’ takes its name from the nuclear bomb. It's an apocalyptic tale about our collective apathy in the face of self-destruction, all wrapped up in an upbeat, synthy love song we hope our gran will like.
