December is written and lead by multi-instrumentalist, Jeff Smith. Thus, it marks a stylistic departure from the band’s orchestral origins, featuring a minimalistic overture that eases into a delicate piano riff in the minor key. 

Layered with ethereal female harmonies including singer/songwriter Milly Hirst, Jeff’s unaffected vocals cut deep into the marrow, sublime in their simplicity. December ascends through the angular drums of latest band member, Alex Mackenzie - whose trip-hop beat accents the trumpet / violin contrapuntal melodies into a maudlin, macabre Mariachi march.

Derby two-piece Ghost Twins are set to release their debut album Never Fear Total Failure this April. Fresh and forward-thinking with an independent sound, the record represents a new attitude for Ghost Twins, infusing experimental and leftfield ideas with huge melodic pop moments of sheer brilliance.
Never Fear Total Failure represents personal struggle and the eventual hope we can eventually achieve through our darkest hours. Lead track “2006” sees Ghost Twins’ experimentations with synthesisers and vocal manipulation continue, expressing the endeavours of humanity through times of torment and framing the album perfectly. One-half of Ghost Twins, Chris Jones, explains that the aim of “2006” was to create a song that ‘has a relentless, disorientating sound that mirrors the confusion of a troubled soul’. Previous single “Unknown Animal” is also featured on the album, a flawless bridge for listeners to experience Ghost Twins’ ever-increasing leftfield sound.
Never Fear Total Failure is a mystifyingly beautiful record, combing the unstoppable emotions of ecstasy and anguish into a piece that is both deeply human and soul-affirming. Whilst the experimental side of Ghost Twins has increased on their debut album, their talent in creating monumental moments in a sound that everyone can relate to has equally excelled.  
Ghost Twins’ debut album Never Fear Total Failure will be self released through featherweight recordings on April 14th on both physical and digital formats.

GHOST TWINS - 2006

THE CADBURY SISTERS live in a half forgotten dream, inhabiting places we remember yet sometimes feel uneasy about returning to.  Their music is meld of harmony, discord and mindfulness, their songs the sonic equivalent of watching Swallows And Amazons or The Railway Children interspliced with The Wicker Man or Lord Of The Flies.  

THE CADBURY SISTERS release their ‘Close’ EP on Bristol’s Fear Of Fiction label on 16th June.  Like all great finds they come with a secret - their great great grandfather was the original George Cadbury, originator of world famous Cadburys chocolate, the girls, Jessica, Mary and Lucy are his direct bloodline and yes, they are all sisters.  Their goal is simple, to take the spirit of traditional English Folk music enthuse its DNA with the contemporary contaminates of the likes Fleet Foxes, Daughter and First Aid Kit and disseminate into the world.  If Cecil Sharp House were run by Saga Noren this is how is its corridors would sound.   

THE CADBURY SISTERS played 20 festivals last year including 2000 Trees, Cambridge Folk, Mosely Folk, Hard Rock Calling and Blissfields and have supported George Ezra, Dry The River,  Stornoway, The Staves, Treetop Flyers and Caitlin Rose.  Frank Turner declared them ‘My Favourite New band’ direct from the stage of 2000 Trees Festival last summer while Tom Robinson commented on, ‘their beautiful harmonies and gorgeous vocals’. 

 The ‘Close’ EP contains five songs.  Lead track ‘Milk’ and ending title, ‘Fire’ both showcase burning crescendos that set THE CADBURY SISTERS aside from other fey nu-folkies.  ‘Lolita’ and ‘You Choose’ embody the forbidden fruits of lust, covetousness and jealousy, while the delicate ‘Quarry’ hints at early Kate Bush or in its harmonies Sandy Denny or even Pentangle, yet its commerciality firmly evokes Fleetwood Mac circa ‘Rumours’.   

THE CADBURY SISTERS appear live in session on BBC Introducing Bristol & The West on 24th April with the EP launch taking place at The Louisiana on 12th June.  Airplay support already includes Janice Long BBC Radio 2,  Tom Robinson BBC 6 Music, BBC Introducing Bristol & The West, BBC Bristol & Stroud FM.
