Anxious Smothers is the first song I have ever written about my Mum. She has suffered with depression for a long time before ever managing to get any help. I think as a Mum you often put your child ahead of your own wellbeing and I guess the song is essentially capturing the sentiment that I want her to find peace and address all of the internal issues that take a back seat when you are raising a child.

‘Colour Blind is a ballad about coming to terms with my own mental health. The chorus “My mouth says fine, but my eyes don’t lie. I don’t wanna die, just tired of feeling colour blind.” is a huge hint, encouraging people to check up on loved ones and notice what their eyes are saying as opposed to what their mouth is. The production includes a speech; an interview with Marilyn Monroe from the 60’s where she touches on her own mental health, but nobody really hears her.
