Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 25th October: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch423

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud GO tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks that have been previously submitted and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Christmas songs and the like are also not eligible for the Listening Post, although we will collect these into a playlist that will be published on 24 December.

The Home Counties (radio edit)

Conceived and recorded during lockdown, The Reverse release new EP If The World Ends Now on Blang Records on 17th November 2021. 

2020 was a strange year for the band. Momentum had been building ahead of the release of their album Which Way Out, when lockdown took hold.  Just a few months earlier they’d shared a stage with Warmduscher and IDLES at Standon Calling Festival, supported The Wave Pictures on tour and were receiving regular airplay which led to live sessions for BBC Radio London, Dexter Bentley on Resonance FM and the song ‘Abstract Heart’ making it into DJ Gary Crowley’s top songs of the year.

The album Which Way Out, was released in April 2020 via Blang Records, but the band were forced to cancel their launch event, tour dates were put on hold and they found themselves stuck at home.

Frustrated, they began working on songs remotely, recording bits and pieces at home and sending files to each other. In between lockdowns last Summer, they took what they’d recorded into a studio to record with their drummer, Jason, who, as high risk, had up until then, been shielding.

A huge emotional pop breakup anthem for introverts. As a shy person with low confidence, the song is a chance for Sam to lay his feelings out when he doesn't feel he has a voice in the real world. It's about someone who was once a friend and could've been more until things became complicated. It's trying figure out if there's still a chance of a future together & begging for forgiveness for not making his feelings clear before. It's his chance to shout as loud as he can about how he truly feels.
