If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Born out of a desire for expression after the pandemic, Irish Goodbye is a manifesto of Heavy Weather's sonic vision. Honest earthy vocals span ethereal guitar melodies and a driving rhythm section, amounting to a unique flavour of anthemic indie. Irish Goodbye paints the angst of estranging from a companion, diarising the frustrations of modern relationships. A song suited to frame the new generation of alternative and indie, the release will be marked with a show at Nice 'n Sleazy on 16/12.

Johnny’s on the Water was learned from the singing of Appalachian folk singer Jean Ritchie (1922 - 2015). It twists the archetypal story of a woman left behind by a sailor, the singer rejecting grief and finding empowerment: ‘if he can live without me, I can live without him’. This line became the heart of our arrangement. 

We created this arrangement in residence at Snape Maltings in 2022. In slowing down the tempo, destabilising the rhythm, and replacing Ritchie’s sparse dulcimer accompaniment with an ensemble of modular synths, guitars and affected strings, we explore the way that the open sea warps our understanding of time and distance. The trumpet solo was played by Lissie Daly, a tireless campaigner for women in brass.

My bio-

I am a solo artist and vocal guidance coach from Portsmouth, I run 4 vocal groups and teach private lessons. I take part in community fundraisers and have 2 beautiful girls. I have been in a very successful group called guilt Trippin and have been very lucky to receive 3 BBC introducing experiences and have supported Sophie Ellis-Bexter, Martin Kemp and Betty Boo. I finally decided to work on some music that i could call my own and put my own influences and personality into it. I have been very lucky to work with Mayfield records and noodle-beard on my production and track for my solo projects.

bouldered rivers, rich peatland and lush Atlantic rainforest -
This is a joyfully defiant female led folk anthem inspired by
Right to Roam: A movement upholding and promoting land
access rights in England.
Singer-songwriter Holly Ebony, known for her poetic lyricism
and agile vocal style, is Joined by fellow folk artist and
banjo player, Anna Anise; cellist, Clarissa Carlyon;
drummer, Oli Haines and bassist James Stewart for this
sing-along foot stomper, featuring a rousing community
chorus of campaigners’ voices.

public; Dartmoor the only place in England we can legally
wild-camp under awe-inspiring night skies and witness
phenomenon like the milky way. Even that right is
threatened. The stars shouldn't be a privilege for the few
who can access their wonder.
