Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 4th November 2024: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch548

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Christmas songs and the like are also not eligible for the Listening Post, although we will collect these into a playlist that will be published on 24 December.

I remember many years ago a friend of mine decided to head into Soho in London and have a good time with lady of the night. Years later I reflected on it and wondered what it must have been like for a young eighteen year old to experience a lady with experience. So I wrote a song about how I imagined it to be.



Come Inside

Berlin is a song that was in fact written in Berlin, 2020, during renting an apartment out there for a couple of months. Here, I spent my days listening to a lot of Fenne Lily, Jay Som, and The War on Drugs in my headphones as I walked around the city streets exploring. 

However, lyrically, this song is inspired by my last casual-dating stint. The first verse describes the persons apartment/room that I became familiar with, from the cracks in the ceiling, to the mattress on the floor, to the streams of sunlight beaming through the wintergarten. Along with the music, the essence of the song foreshadows fragility and vulnerability with somebody who will always be a stranger, and the internal process of me coming to that realisation.

"Josephine" is a pop/indie song about the impact of growing up around hurtful words from family. It tells the story of how those words affected self-esteem over time. The chorus captures the lingering pain and the journey of understanding those memories. With an emotional yet catchy melody, "Josephine" offers a sense of understanding and comfort to anyone who has faced similar challenges.

On November 1, 2024, The Agency… released "Harbour Song," the debut single from their highly anticipated upcoming album.
