If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Off the back of writing songs with Robbie Williams, Mark Owen, Lemar and Shy Carter. Jake Emlyn is releasing a solo record, a nostalgic story telling song with a contemporary twist. Funded by Patreon, fans were asked to choose their 12 favourite songs of Jakes and this is the first one on that list to be recorded. Music In The Dark was recorded in Mallorca with producer duo Will Clapson and Jamie Cameron and is part of an EP set to release in autumn 2025.

The story goes: When Jake he was 21, his father showed me some poems he had written when he was 21 and they put those words into a song, adding new lyrics. One of the most mystical aspects of this song is that the chorus somehow predicted his father’s death which would occur years later.

Music In The Dark

Distant Echo was written especially for this year's Piano Day, which is organised by pianist Nils Frahm. Piano Day is organised to celebrate the piano in all its guises and takes place on the 88th day of the year (the number of keys on a piano), which this year is March 29th.

The track reflects something of the dark mornings, tumultuous episodes and occasional serenity it was written within.
