Any artist is welcome to send us a track via freshonthenet.co.uk anytime between Monday lunchtime and Wednesday evening (or when we receive 200 submissions, whichever is sooner) - and all our moderators, including Tom Robinson, will listen to every track. This is our full inbox from the week beginning Mon 20th October 2025: from Friday afternoon you'll be able to hear our shortlist and pick your favourites on this week's Listening Post which will appear at freshonthenet.co.uk/batch586

If a track you submitted does not appear in this list, it’s probably because another of your tracks appeared in our Fresh Faves or on the BBC Music Introducing Mixtape during the last three months — we ask that artists featured on either wait three months before resubmitting to give others a chance. 

We also don’t accept short previews or SoundCloud Go tracks that can only be heard as 30 second previews, and tracks made private after submission, which cannot be included in playlists. You will be able to resubmit the track in future. Tracks (and remixes of tracks) that have been previously submitted, and tracks from banned artists will also be removed.

Christmas songs and the like are also not eligible for the Listening Post, although we will collect these into a playlist that will be published on 24 December.

Everything You Say

The Halloween Dream EP finds the Welsh genre-agnostics further expanding their uncategorised sound, launching from a base of drum machine beats and sequenced synths into the realms of the indie rock anthem and beyond.

Lead track Delta Rain is a swooning slice of atmospheric electronica, propelled by a juddering bassline and augmented with gossamer guitar. An anthemic ode to anywhere that feels like home, singer Michael describes it as “a love song dedicated to a place rather than a person.”

October Kind is an elusive, intricate labyrinth of piano and guitar jangle, where tightly harmonised vocals are draped across an ever-shifting musical landscape. Conjuring an otherworldly atmosphere, the band call it “a catalogue of Autumnal memories and the intangible feelings they inspire.”

The EP is rounded out by a warped cover (the band’s first) of Super Furry Animals’ 1998 cult favourite The Man Don’t Give A Fuck. Twisting the original into new shape, the duo finds a new sense of aggression and intensity in contrast to moments of sublime serenity. “Gruff Rhys called this an all-purpose protest song” says multi-instumentalist Jon, “and there’s plenty to protest right now.”

Also included on the Bandcamp exclusive version of the release are Midnight Mass, a brand new demo for an epic spoken-word post-rock tune, and a striking instrumental version of The Man Don’t Give A Fuck.

The Halloween Dream EP was written, recorded, mixed and produced at home by childhood friends and longtime collaborators Jon (music) and Michael (words). Their purposeful DIY ethic, inspired by bands they sound nothing like, has so far spawned two albums (2022’s Un Diavolo In Casa and 2024’s Luminism) as well as a recent run of four standalone singles which they plan to extend to a series of ten. “We thought we’d release ten singles in about a year but we’re almost a year in and only at the halfway point. Deciding to make EPs instead of singles and making videos for every song has probably slowed us down a touch.”

Do you remember what it felt like to play as a child?  Playing by the stream, with wooden swords and make believe?  Then you get older and you find it hard to feel that wild freedom.  Rob Prince's  pop song “Wild Me” romanticizes about finding that magic again, beneath the trees, amongst the leaves, and feeling less stressed in adult life and returning to the wonder of being a child, which we all need.  Perfect song to accompany Ed Sheeran's slower numbers and be within other romantic pop playlists.

Over several years of my late twenties, me and one of my male friends secretly were attracted to each other but had to abstain due to some complicated social ties in our group. One year, we caved in and began what was quite a messy fling. I wrote this song throughout those years as a way to process the tangle of anxiety, excitement, anger but also lust that was tangled up in my stomach. After the fallout, I joked that it wasn't mine or his fault for the stupidity of it all, but that it was South East London's; because it is such a romantic place. This is my ode to that area, and the chaos of that time of my life. This is a jazzier route this time with my flatmate Jago on the guitar, and myself on the string section with my one violin.

"SAUNA" isn’t your typical friends-to-lovers trope. It’s an intoxicating exploration of when the intensity of physical intimacy becomes something deeper. The song is about a relationship that started unexpectedly - "whiskey and balconies, then a kiss" - but evolved into something all-consuming. The track uses heat and breathlessness as metaphors for desire and vulnerability, using layers of tension and release, with production that feels as steamy and enveloping as the title. 'SAUNA' speaks to anyone who's experienced that overwhelming moment when lust transforms into something you can't bear to lose. The tempo of the song also speeds up and slows down - like intimate moments - which is a detail we really loved.
