With the original already considered somewhat of a local classic among Portland & Seattle rap fans, the project is now expanded with 5 more additional songs – all pulled from the original EP recording sessions.

For the third installment in our Fresh Selects Remix Series, we turn circle back to one of our more recent releases, in the week of its one year anniversary – Milc & Andy Savoie's 'Windbreaker' album. 

Furthering the Pacific Northwest-side connection that the Portland-born rapper & Seattle-based producer established with the collaborative project, when it came to flipping the three-man posse cut "Angels In The Outfield" – featuring two of our favorite Seatown spitters, Greg Cypher (½ of the group Kung Foo Grip) and La – it was only right that we recruit beatmaker Def Dee as our pinch hitter. 

Known for having some of the sharpest chops in Seattle, Def Dee is a close collaborator of both Greg Cyph and La's – producing La's 2010 certified Seattle rap classic 'Gravity', along with it's follow-up EP 'Symmetry' 10 years later, and then Greg Cypher's 'Third Stone' EP the year after in 2021. 

Here, Dee takes things out of the NW and brings them overseas on his "Away Game Mix," blending some breezy Brazilian samba with his own very raw and hard-hitting bass, synth and drum work. While working on mixing Def's flip, we became so infatuated with all of the cool and subtle things that he was doing in the background of the track – playing each instrument all the way through, with no loops – that we couldn't help but strip away the rest of the elements, to let those instruments have more of their shine, on the bonus "Synth Scrimmage Mix." 

Rounding out the B-side of the maxi-single, we've provided the instrumentals for both Def Dee mixes, along with Andy Savoie's beat for the original mix of "Angels" (originally named "Be Afraid" in the beat batch Milc received it in).

Namir Blade is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and artist from Nashville Tennessee. He started experimenting with sounds at the age of six and further developing and refining his talents from middle school well into high school while attending Nashville School of the Arts.
Over the years he has had projects and collaborations that extended to multiple genres from House to Hip-hop. He has worked with some of Nashville’s most renowned artists, and is widely known for his unique sound. His stylings are often self reflective, innovative, organic, and almost sporadic at times. It is as if he is giving the listener a window to look into the mind of a modern Afro-American. Surrealism, Afro-Futurism, Nerd culture, and Black culture bleeds through his sound as primary influencers so that anyone lending an ear is immediately ejected from their seat. In the past, Namir has worked closely with several multimedia art collectives, as well as SoundCloud-Golden age producer collectives, Natural Selection and Wizards Only.
