For those unaware of the concept of the Round Up: Each artist that released on Heist in 2020 gets to remix another artist from that year. This year, there's the feel-good festival vibes on Crackazat remix of ‘Dakar Disco’ and the rolling tech goodness of Kassian’s remix of Nebraska’s bonkers track ‘Dip & Flip’. Pitto takes an excursion into deep dubbed out house with his remix of Kassian’s ‘8th Movement’ and Nebraska goes for a UK house meets US garage meets Christopher Walken’s cowbell solo on his remix of ‘Move out the way’ by Dam Swindle. The label heads take on their house stabs with their atmospheric and pumping remix of Teleseen’s ‘Dekalb’, while the latter goes for a worldly approach with his remix of ‘Discko’ by Pitto. There’s also the superb Detroit house approach from Scan 7 with their remix of Crackazat’s ‘Class one’, and we hear Alma Negra adding some vocal and synth layers to the gospel house of Scan7’s killer track ‘All for me’.

The fourth edition of Ibadan's most popular series is back. "Leads & Bites Vol." continues the tradition of new classic dance floor essentials.

Up first is house DJ and producer Massiande, one of the most captivating talents from South America and notable Housewax alumnus. "Mainline" comes on strong, delivering punchy synth lines and fat beats with an undeniable Chicago spirit. Sharing the A-side is "Lens House" by The Prince of Dance aka Elbee Bad, an edgy sleeper track with eclectic rhythms and a perfect balance of all the classic elements.

Kicking off the B-side are heroes of the hour S.A.T. - Sydenham, AYBEE, and Trent - with "Yaphet", a low-key offering that gradually unfolds into the trio's signature blissed-out, energetic vibe. MLiR and Arnau Obiols wrap it up with "Calanda", a genre-defying foray into organic vocals and experimental sounds nervy, mysterious, and with hints of downtempo electronica.

With previous releases on Delusions of Grandeur, Voyeurythm and more, UK producer Ben Sun delivers a gorgeous blend of deep textures that hearken back to the golden era of NY and Chicago with his Distant Messenger EP on Razor-N-Tape. On the A-side, Transmission has all the vibey goodness of an early Strictly Rhythm record, while Sable Sun scuba dives into Larry Heard territory with lush pad swells and squelching acid lines.

On the flip, the emotive motion of Tremors builds through hypnotic arpeggiated synths, a slow-rolling bassline and crystalline melodies, and the record finishes in proto-house territory with the Peech Boys era Larry Levan-inspired Red Light. This EP may wear its influences on its sleeve, but it looks (and sounds) classy as hell.
