we live in a toxic world
safety is boring but this crisis is getting old
you can try to fight it until your blood runs cold
but in the end you can only do as youre told
your mind may be free
but your body has you in a chokehold

so many eyes losing light
how could this happen in a world so bright
when were growing up were nourished with lies
told that we are living under friendly skies
so many cold fluorescent lights
so many others fighting losing fights
be careful where you rest your eyes
it could scar you for the rest of your life

everyone just wants to be happy
but it seems like theres nothing but boredom and anxiety
i wish i was able to believe
that something in control was there to guide me
but we are fighting against things we cannot see
and the things we love are being taken away from you and me

so many happy little lies
nobody wants to see with their own eyes
the truth is just too much to bite
so we throw on a cheap disguise
nobody ever wants to cry
nobody wants to see the losing side
so we cover their poor little eyes
and try to forget we might be losing the fight
