Deniro, real name Reynier, has been working his way onto the collective radar of late with a raft of releases under Tape Records and more recently Nina Kraviz’s трип. You’ll find traces of him everywhere from your favourite DJ’s set to the name ‘Dekmantel’ (he came up with it). His praxis takes dubby and high-tempo form, something analogous to 90s Detroit, conjuring up a flurry of cascading kicks and phantom beeps now second nature. Here, Reynier weaves together only his own hallmark tracks and as yet unreleased works for Bassiani Podcast 113, a spellbinding two-hour mix by one of Holland’s finest acts.

Perhaps best-loved for his dynamic take on techno in both his productions and his DJ sets — having been involved and around music for nearly 30 years, @DVS1 is an expert in his field, a true veteran of the scene whose roots extend beyond DJing into grassroots raves and event promotion in his native Minneapolis. 

These days, he continues to push his own limits, getting involved in and starting up projects that fuel his love of music, but also his love of the community he was raised in and helped build. His most recent venture, Aslice, is a software-based platform which proposes a fairer music ecoysystem for DJs and promoters is in its early days, but its concept is bringing up questions for both me and Zak. 

For episode 47, we're exploring the value of art, the definition of success, his own personal perceptions of his worth as an artist.

Tauceti has been  for a few years as one of the figures of this new generation of techno artists to follow very closely. First as a DJ, where she distills in her mix a dark, tropical and sensual techno with percussive and vaporous rhythms. They then put a very particular elegance and a certain maturity that each time make their listening singular.  

She then became known as a producer, thanks to collaborations and EPs, the last of which appeared on the 30D Records label in 2022. Through this work of exploration of sonorities, she demonstrates her talent to break down silos, oscillating between ambient and techno, between strange reverie and raw realism, between bright lights and heavy tablecloths.

A woodcarver begins with a piece of wood and workpiece preparation. They smooth the surface and eliminate all defects. Next, they keep transforming it using knives and proceed to the final stage: post-processing. They grind it, soak it in certain substances, and then stain.

A staple of Prague’s Techno scene, fleika has been cultivating his dj skills for almost a decade.

Between his membership in the Polygon collective, regular exposure at Cukr events and performances at Prague’s Stalin plaza, he has become one of the local scene’s most sought-after selectors.

fleika’s experiences behind the decks have been rapidly developing in Ankali’s DJ booth thanks to his involvement as a club resident and co-curator of Archiv Teknologi night series.

His commitment manifests in persistent digging through vast worlds of music, and in extensive, marathon sets.

Olivia has been on the radar for a while now as being one of the key figures in keeping parties alive and kicking in Berlin today. 

This French artist’s inspirations range from in-depth investigations of the world of musical-nerds to the most crazy and extravagant parties which she both attends and play at regularly. Her unique style has taken her far beyond the German capital, with performances at major European Festivals.  

As a passionate vinyl archaeologist she likes to highlight forgotten records that are still striking to the ears. Her background as a music journalist, artist and event promoter, combined with her passion for crate digging imbues her DJ sets with an eclectic range. This range grows out of her dedicated exploration of different styles of electronic music from the past, as well as present. 

Olivia playfully leads us through a deep, steady, minimalistic journey, presented to you exclusively on vinyl. Working mostly with textures and rhythms, yet always keeping the intensity high, her set oozes the kind of panache that is unique to French performers.
